Just looking for some opinions really! Me & DH were supposed to attend a wedding in July abroad. Obviously it was cancelled but now the bride/groom want us to re book everything for next July. I just can't see it happening so reluctant to book. Especially as there is around 100 guests invited!! What do people think??

Yabu - next year will be normal
Yanbu - not a chance

Thank you!!!!

Sorry I should add, the reason for the question is DH is eager to rebook and I'm not!

Depends on money and location. Have you lost money from the cancelled wedding? Can you just put a small deposit down on the new holiday?

We've not had a holiday this year, we usually go away at Christmas but there's no way I'm booking anything until this virus fucks off. I'm not going on holiday to have to wear a mask everywhere, especially in a hot place, would rather say here until it's safer

We are on holiday in Greece now. It had been booked pre-pandemic and is the only holiday we had booked this year that didn't get cancelled. We're enjoying it, but it was stressful getting to this point as we've had will they/won't they cancel hanging over us all summer, plus the hassle of getting the money back from other trips which were cancelled.

With this in mind we've already decided not to book anything for 2021 as it's just been so much hassle.

People with their hearts set on foriegn weddings need to get a grip. No one wants to be a spoilsport but equally no one is arsed wasting money on something that may or may not get the go ahead, especially if booking for the second time. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is the definition of insanity. If it gets cancelled for the second time will you be expected to book again for a third time? Hopefully someone will drop a helpful word in their ear that no one actually cares that much about their wedding.

"People with their hearts set on foriegn weddings need to get a grip"

This x 1000

If you want to go and can book on a cancellable basis then I would do that.

Winter2020 · 18/09/2020 11:44

If you are able to book with an "if you want to cancel you can" guarantee then that is one way around it. Otherwise I would just look at booking in the spring if things are looking ok. Even if that means that you can't stay at the wedding hotel because it is booked up and need to stay nearby

It’s up to yourself. You could book a cheap flight and write it off. I still can’t get to terms with people getting married abroad, each to their own, but don’t expect everyone to attend. Depends on the destination.
We had flights booked for France for October half term and were going to cancel, EasyJet cancelled them yesterday, so we took the voucher. Look for something where you can cancel/move the flights.

I am normally on my annual holiday, long haul, at this time of year. However, as I arrange it myself, I generally make all plans last minute.
To be honest, I would be off there in an instant, if the country I visit was open to tourists/visitors, which is it not at present.
Slightly different for a specific event, though, too many variables, in my opinion, at this stage. I would hold off until early in 2021 just to see how things pan out.
