I know they are probably just mainly false. But occasionally I've had some really good ones. Like a lady described my grandma's living room etc and was so accurate right down to the last detail.

So anyway. My relationship seems to be naturally ending. Nothings been said massively. We've not had sex for a year. We just care for the kids and live here. I have sort of said I feel like we are just friends. We have half said we need to try harder. But I dont know. Nothings Changing. He falls asleep on the sofa every night and we've completly turned into friends that don't go near eachother.

One of my friends has told me someone thinks I'm really nice. He doesn't particularly know me. We just chat in the street if we see eachother. But lately he's been making lots of eye contact and smiling at me when we chat. I'll be honest it's got me curious. But I'm not meaning sex and betrayel. I literally feel like I will be starting again one day as my relationship is just not there now and is it a crime to be interested in getting to know someone who might want to be close to me eventually and have a future with me?

Anyway I stupidly searched for a email psychic with high ratings. Found a women who says nothing shocks her. Said she will answer the question and not fill in her answer with loads of words. So I paid for one question. I said will this man ever contact me. I was truthful and explained my relationship seems to be over. We have become friends. Her reply was really harsh.

She told me to stop clutching at straws with this man. Then she said would he think you was so nice if he knew you'd cheat on your partner. Then she said it would mean id probably cheat on him too. She asked me if my friend would cheat on her partner. Then said she can't advise me to have some afternoon delights with this man and I need to sort my current realtionship first.

Little bit shocked at the nasty judgemental reply from a so called spiritual person. Also to take my money and not even answer the question I asked (in the future will this man ever contact me)

I've replied and told her I had no intentions on cheating or having an afternoon shag behind oh back. I told her I'm just trying to make sense of my future. I told her I feel judged.
Awaiting reply.

But feeling abit dumb. I doubt she's done anything other than read and judge and send her opinion.

Are these things fake? Have I been a total idiot to waste money. Was hoping for guidance not nastiness.

Well she’s dumb as well as being a charlatan. She could have made easy money by just replying “yes” or “no”. Either would have done. It’s all you wanted to hear.

But loving the irony of a con-artist schooling you on morals!

No one can tell you what the future holds

I think you missed the part where she lives by the sea

Most people that use this kind of service are grieving or going through a hard time and grabbing anything they can to get through it.
This is how they get good reviews, because they tell people what they want to/need to hear at that moment.

Justcallmebebes · 17/09/2020 22:44

They also look through your social media. That's probably how previous one was able to describe your gran's lounge. Photo on face book probably. I despise these people as they prey on the vulnerable

Feelingconfused2020 · 17/09/2020 22:46

hoping she can't put a curse on me for being unhappy!

She can't. Please stop it and reflect on what you are saying. Do you really believe another human being, unrelated to you, can put a curse in you? What do you think a curse is and how do you think the magic works? If there is magic and witchcraft in the world why aren't we using it to solve all the world's problems?

If you paid her hundreds I would look into legal avenues for reclaiming your money
If you paid her tens I'd chalk.it up.to experience and move on. She's a con artist.

MartiniDry · 17/09/2020 22:48

I used to know a woman who's now a psychic medium. Funnily enough, she lives by the sea. Yours isn't on the south east coast, is she?

When I knew her, she and her creepy boyfriend headed up a timeshare call centre. When that went to the wall they disappeared from my town but a bit of Googling tells me that she then became secretary of a dodgy PPI company headed by the owners of the timeshare company. The PPI company went through several name changes and numerous accusations and exposures of fraud. Naturally each of those companies folded.

Of course, she could be simply unlucky.

Or more likely she's a chancer who is making considerable amounts of money with her audiences, private readings, workshops, and email readings from her nice house by the sea.

Fallada · 17/09/2020 22:54

I think you lucked out. Madame Zelda was in a bad mood and rather than foretelling some fairytale nonsense from her crystal ball/ashtray, gave you some pretty sensible, if blunt, advice about sorting out your own relationship before you start making eyes at the new guy.

Honestly, OP, a lot of elderly women live by the sea. That doesn’t enable them to discern hunky strangers with your name on them in their tea leaves.

I saw a Facebook discussion involving someone who claimed to be a psychic medium last week (not about her psychic “abilities” - it was about her utter bullshit conspiracy theories she was spouting) and for everyone who joined the conversation, the first thing she’d do was look at their profile casually drop a personal detail about them into the conversation. It was so painfully obvious, and very funny when several people had old or intentionally incorrect info on their profile!
NotBehindTheRadiatorPlease · 17/09/2020 22:58

They are utter crap. They get good reviews because many of their predictions/readings are so general they could apply to many many different people (ie your grandfather died of a stroke ect). They also get many things wrong but people tend to conveniently forget those things and focus on the things they got right.

I loathe them as they tend to prey on vulnerable, often grieving people.

The only shocking thing here is that she didn’t just tell you what you wanted to hear. Ironically, you actually got advice worth hearing.

Why are you so scared of being alone that you can only leave your current relationship if you have assurance from a ‘psychic’ that a random man will get in touch to take his place and you’ll live happily ever after?

If these psychics were all genuine why aren't they all multi millionaires after predicting the euromillions winning numbers? Why are they scamming strangers for cash? Why are there unsolved murders/unfound bodies!
It always makes me chuckle when I remember that years ago, Trisha (remember her?!) hosted a show called Britain's Best Psychic or something. The contestants had a set of challenges to solve/predict, etc, and the most accurate one won the title. When Trisha asked how she felt about winning she actually said, "I had no idea this would happen!" I'd probably have kept quiet about that 😂

lunalulu · 21/09/2020 08:22

I once knew of a woman who swore by a psychic 80 miles away and would make 'appointments' for the psychic to ' cleanse' her house ... eg 'at 6pm next Sat my wonderful psychic will access the house remotely' ... and she paid hundreds of pounds for the service!!

Suffice to say, the woman herself was a total fraud in more ways than one. Just adored the power of lying.

Anyone who really thinks some old bird is going to remotely cleanse their house for 80 quid would be better off spending it on a shrink, in my humble opinion.

Ah, income idea #101: become a psychic and work only remotely!! Income not even affected by the Virus! 👌

Her advice is not half bad - not sure where the psychic part comes into it, but listen to her. She's not wrong.

TheWho67 · 21/09/2020 09:45

I agree with you OP, very judgemental and unprofessional. Can you leave her a bad review?
Years ago my Mum and I saw a fortune teller. She knew specific things about us that she ordinarily could not have known (no social media back then) and fairly accurately predicted my future. We did it for a laugh and took everything she said with a pinch of salt. I somehow like to think there are some genuine psychic people out there but the majority are con artists.
I think you need to stop thinking about this other man - it's just escapism. You don't need a crystal ball to tell you that you may or may not meet this man again but need to sort out your marriage first.

anotherpersontoday · 21/09/2020 09:56

Some “psychics” are very intuitive people who make good counsellors. I know a few who offer readings but really use the cards or charts as a spring board to let the person speak and they give good non judgmental advice. They are all older women who have seen and heard it all. They are educated (one has a degree from Cambridge) and well read, well travelled etc. They are cheaper than a therapist and you can see or chat to them as needed.

Can they see the future? No but they are useful. If you can find someone like that then go for it. An email reading not so much.
