WIBU to send DD2 to school?

DD1 came home today complaining of a sore throat/slight (not dry) cough. It's a seasonal thing, non-contagious, she gets it every year at this time of year (ie it's not covid). DD2 has no symptoms, usually I'd send both of them to school but if school hears DD1 coughing I think they'd sent both of them home. WIBU to send DD2 to school tomorrow?

Going through the same thing. DS is full of cold. Has been for a week. Dd caught it off him but recovered very fast. DS is still so bunged and developed a slight cough!! When I say slight I mean it's a very occasional cough that lasts a second or two from sniffing his snot back 🤮

You know your child best, but if you ring school and mention cough, they will say to get a test and you all have to isolate, so you may be better saying she is just feeling unwell.

Not all schools are saying to get tested for a slight cough. My sons school haven’t said this as they’re intelligent people and understand the governments definition of a ‘continuous cough’.

Does she have one of the 3 main COVID symptoms - no.

Is she feeling too ill to go to school - no.

So she goes to school. Honestly, it really is that simple.

If she has even a slight cough school will probably send her home, we have been told to wait 48 hours after any symptoms disappear before kids can go back to school as well.

Winter will be a nightmare.

A continuous cough means 3 incidents of coughing over 24 hours i.e. any cough that isn't just a 1 off and keeps going for a while.

Op, I would say your should isolate and get a test, because your dc meets criteria. You shouldn't hide her symptoms from the school, that would be really unfair to the other dc she is exposed to, who could be vulnerable or have vulnerable family members.

Yes they are aware of this.
