To get private health insurance?

I do have mild health anxiety, so I’m not sure if this is skewing my view! But is private health insurance worth it? It would be for me, DH, and DS(4). We could afford it - we’ve finished paying for our kitchen so could replace that with £100ish a month for health insurance. I’m concerned that it’s going to take a very long time for the NHS to recover from Covid, and also I feel like it’s worth the money to not have to worry about waiting lists etc.

Try WPA, they are excellent and not for profit. We have health insurance and it has been invaluable in the past. Its quite complicated to compare like for like so be prepared to spend time on it. Two ways of reducing cost are to have a high excess and a limit to being able to claim only when the NHS cant do something within 6 weeks. Be wary of upper claim limits as you dont want to find a serious condition hitting those limits

If you can afford it, do it. It's not a commitment for ever in any case.

We had it through work for a long time, and have just taken out our own policy.

I just felt it's not so much the big things but the smaller more irritating things, we are late 50s now, an age when things start to go wrong and I just didn't want to be put on indefinite waiting lists for knee ops or cataract ops, especially now the NHS has taken such a hit over the Covid crisis. We also live in Cornwall where it is much harder to get a good choice of treatment and our nearest hospital is awful. If I was still in London I might feel differently.
