To ask for your help with ovulation tests?

I've had 3 babies, aged 5 and 2 and one stillborn. We'd like a fourth and final baby but after having LLETZ last year my cycle has been super irregular so felt that ovulation tests were necessary.
Admittedly I have no idea how to really use them and the leaflet doesn't say anything about the lines on the test, just the smiley faces. So apparently I'm not ovulating by the empty circle, but what does the two lines on the actual test mean? Are those not positive?
Google threw up a while bunch of people knowing they were pregnant from 2 lines on an ovulation test and I don't want to get my hopes up. I hope someone on here is smarter than I am 😳

Hi op 😊

So with the line tests, The test line (one on the left that detects the hormone produced when ovulating) needs to be DARKER than the control line (the line that always comes up when the test gets wet, the line on the right.)

There may always be some sort of line there, because the hormone is always present to some degree... it just increases the closer to ovulation you are - hence the darker line because it is detecting more the hormone.

I have attached a photo from google of positives. The left line needs to be darker, or as dark as the right line.

Hope this helps 👍🏼

From your test, I would estimate you will ovulate within the next 3-7 days so keep testing.

@SideAfries oh my goodness that is beyond helpful, thank you so much! You should write the leaflet that comes in the boxes haha Smile

I never get a line as dark or stronger than the control line, but I am fairly sure I am ovulating. I never know what this means...

Hi OP. You've had some great advice above 👍
Just to say that I found temping way clearer than ovulation sticks. It's the only way to know that you actually ovulated. Obviously you only find out a couple of days after (your temp will rise) but after the first month it gave me a much clearer picture of when it was happening so might be worth a try.

I was always told / read too that the line needs to be at least as dark as the control line to be classed as positive. Not like a pregnancy test where any line is a line.

I've just been using the same tests as you OP- got my smiley face for last 2 days, interestingly once ejecting from the main test holder- my left line was still quite a bit lighter then the control line- still got smiley face- but was just as wide- while yours looks narrower. The next day when I also got smiley and ejected- it was just as dark. So guessed it picked up on building LH surge to give me the smiley 1st day, by the second it was in full swing!
I've also had a Llezt- and gone on 2 have 2 DC's, just to give you some reassurance there.

@jaseyraex 🤣 not that I was ever obsessed with conceiving or anything... 🤥

I think it's hard to say it's 100% positive but clearly shows you're heading in that direction so assume you'll be ovulating in the next day or 2!
