Tropic skincare

Anyone else's facebook covered in these?

One of my facebook friends is now acting like a professional dermatologist.
Telling people how to get rid of acne, that she can tell them what creams and gels best suit their skin etc, that she can do personal facials,
When she works at a supermarket (nothing wrong with that) but the actual skincare is quite expensive.
Am I right that Tropic is an MLM?

It sure is, and I'm pretty sure making health claims about such products is illegal.

bunnyonthemantle · 16/09/2020 20:39

Yes. I'm sick of it. There's a girl on mine constantly posting about how other brands are filled with toxic chemicals and sharing her natural tropic skin regimes etc. Whilst over on an aesthetic page I follow there's pictures of her having her face pumped with Botox and fillers. Joke.

Oysterbabe · 16/09/2020 20:39

Yep MLM. I had a few friends doing it but they've given up now.

FlowerPetalYesNOMaybe · 16/09/2020 20:40

I just found it off as she sent me a message asking if I was okay and if I wanted to find out how best to look after my skin and then a long message about how awful shop bought skincare products are,
I ignored it but checked her tropic page,
We used to go to school together but never really spoke

Yes it is an MLM. I have heard that the products are nice, but very expensive. I’ve never tried them myself. A salon I used to go to had just started using them for facials and skin treatments which I was quite surprised at, as I thought they’d want a more established brand like Espa, Elemis, Decleor etc.

A friend of a friend has gone into another MLM (Temple Spa) and is also doing the advice on skin and products, despite spending the previous 20+ years working in an office for a company that had nothing to do with makeup/skincare/cosmetics.

I’m actually gutted about TS as they do have some lovely products and used to be available in Harrods, high-end hotels and Emirates (I think) used to give them out in First Class. Looks like they’re no longer available (or at least not such a wide range of products) unless you buy from a ‘consultant’ 🙄.

@bunnyonthemantle literally cross posted! In the message she sent me, she was mentioning how toxic clarins, l'oreal etc are

Came here to say "MLM avoid!"

So was glad to see your post already has it's suspicions.

But just in case - avoid it. It's an MLM Grin

BunnyLovesBananas · 16/09/2020 20:50

Yes it's an MLM and they seem to be everywhere at the moment.

I have found myself watching anti-MLM videos on YouTube and they're quite interesting.

It's also a thing they do to message people and ask how you are and act all friendly and then try to sell you something or recruit you Hmm

TurquoiseDress · 16/09/2020 21:06

Oh this is interesting had old school friend on FB recently message me about it, she's started selling these products

What's MLM stand for?

Bluewavescrashing · 16/09/2020 21:11

Multi level marketing (aka pyramid scheme).

Fallsballs · 16/09/2020 21:14

Just had it from an old school friend on my Facebook too.
She says her email was hacked but didn’t mention the tropical stuff.
