To be done with autumn/winter before it's even started.

DS has a stinking cold. Started at the weekend. He's still very congested and snotty. Technically it's been said that he can go school as just a cold but when I say he is snotty, he is extremely snotty! Non stop sneezing and sniffling. He cannot blow his nose properly. No fever thankfully.

He has a very occasional cough. For instance he coughs for a second or two and that's that. No coughing fits and it's not continuous but occasional coughing..

I feel done with this already. All the kids going back and the time of year. There's going to be so much going around.

this time last year we wouldn't of hesitated to send our children with mild colds. In fact our school would encourage it as they have an issue with persistent absence. They didn't want children off unless you absolutely need to.

I'm not sure what the point of this post is but I'm stressed about this coming winter. With covid amongst other germs and bugs. We are going to spend the whole winter fretting whether our kids have colds or covid. Obviously they same but symptoms overlap.

With no tests atm. If our dc needed to test but can't we will lose an awful of money if w shave to isolate for 2 weeks. Plus kids missing school.

Ok, well we’ll just cancel Winter shall we? Hmm Maybe start a Twitter hashtag, I’ve heard they’re good at getting things cancelled

Alright @CitizenFame, no need to be so bloody snarky. OP’s allowed to have a moan about a rubbish, miserable situation.

@jb2941 I'm with you on this. We're at home- isolating- with DS with a cold & cough. Yes, I get it- he's got a cough we'll do what we have to do.

I did manage to get a test for him yesterday morning, after a very stressful evening endlessly refreshing the browser to attempt to get a test.

I wonder if narky posters, who are sarcastic realise that it isn't just a child poorly (seasonal illness most likely), speedy test, and child back to school when feeling better.

It is laborious to get a test, and slow to get a response, whilst I as a single parent try and carry on wfh. In a tiny house.

It is draining and feels like the start of a hideous autumn/winter.

So yes, I'm with you. A poorly child isn't fun at the best of time- but add in this process which is evidently bursting at the seams, and it feels like a real trial.

Not sure if there's a need for that. Can't help feeling anxious and it all 🤷‍♀️

Thank you. I am feeling so anxious and low about it all. Kids sent back to school for a few weeks in July and I was really positive about them going back in September but now I feel I'll be constantly fearing germs and the kids getting ill. Bad enough every year but even more so now! 😭

I'm dreading winter this year.

Worry over work, this our busy period and I have no idea how we will all stay healthy and keep coming in.

Worry over family, my elderly FIl lives alone and is struggling with the isolation - but if we visit (200 miles away) then we will be
endangering him - it's been ok over the summer - but will change as the virus increases over winter.

I usually go abroad during winter (BAME) to help get some vit D and cheer myself up, this isn't going to be possible.

Christmas is going to be seriously different this year.

I just want to go for a dance and drinking session with my friends to shake off the blues....yes not possible maybe for years!

I feel like all I do is work and housework, and I'm very lucky - I actually enjoyed lockdown (I was still going to work which helped) but this limbo land is awful.

jb2941 · 16/09/2020 13:46

@wedidntstartthefires so hard isn't it. I felt more relaxed during lockdown. Obviously everything going on was scary but being home most of the time (well was going to work in a low risk job but other than that completely isolating). I feel really stressed right now, more stressed than I have in a long time. I feel like I can't relax!
