Has anyone with javelin arse who has had an exploratory laparoscopy NOT had endometriosis?

Just wondering really. So much of what I read says that it's a strong indicator that endo is present (when you have other symptoms too) with varying degrees of bowel adhesions.

Period has just started, I'm in pain and worried. I wondered if anyone has had a laparoscopy done, and found to have no endometriosis despite awful pain?

I used to get it until I had DD at 42. Was never diagnosed with Endo but had really terrible periods from age 14 until I had the mirena at 36 which stopped my periods. I used to vomit, diarrhoea and javelin arse intermittently and faint from the pain . It's really the only positive about he

Ooh yes I had it I had terrible endo and it actually went after a ketogenic diet , we did all my period problems

I had it but it was a fibroid not endo causing it. Holy hell it used to make me jump and scream with the sudden ness of the pain. I think I had it when a clot was moving through me. Went away when fibroid removed. I sometimes still get little niggly pains so I assume my womb must touch on some nerves.

I get this too! I am currently waiting for a gynaecologist referral to discuss probability of me having endo, after having two hospital admissions due to pain so severe they thought my appendix had burst.

I used to get this and then went on the mini pill, best thing ever, no more javelin arse!

Me! Had a diagnostic laparoscopy last year as I suffer from a whole host of other symptoms too which fit endo diagnosis but there were no signs of it at all when they investigated. Consultant was pretty flummoxed as she seemed convinced it was going to turn out to be that. 1 year on, same issues continue and it seems they don’t know what else can be done so I just have to crack on...

I get it every month since I hit my 40's, it's horrendous, thought it was just one of those things

I have had a diagnostic lap and don’t have endo. I had a pcos diagnosis already. She said it may be related to a lactose intolerance which i also have. Haven’t had the pain at all since getting a mirena coil 2 years ago.

Omg. I've opened the thread to see what Javelin Arse is it like a shooting pain up the butt? I get it all the time and call it shooty bum. JA will be my new term Grin

Although I’m genuinely sorry you’ve all suffered this I’m immensely relieved to read this! I’ve been experiencing this for about a year now and after discussing it with very close females and them looking at me like I was crazy I decided to keep quiet about it. I’ve been calling it lightning bum as it’s the only way I could describe it. Thank you to all of you I even started to question myself while I was gripping hold of the nearest thing gasping for breath praying for it to pass.

MoonSauce · 14/09/2020 23:38

Had to google it but yes, it's something I get, and I'm diagnosed with endo. I always described it as someone shoving a knitting needle right up my butt hole. It's horrid.

When I used to get this (randomly, not apparently connected to female issues) I chanced on a Guardian article which told me that it was most likely proctalgia fugax and so harmless.

The article featured testimony from various sufferers including a church minister. She'd sometimes get a spasm during a service and think 'Oh no, not NOW!'

Haven't had it for years. Perhaps people can grow/age out of it? I hope so.
