To ask for helping me find a spare part of this sewing machine

I have a model simulator this picture and the pedal (the white one in this picture) is broken. Basically, the wire broke in the middle though pedal was in perfectly good condition.
Where can I find this? I called their customer service who said they don’t sell spare parts. This machine is working fabulously, does all I want it to do and I definitely don’t have the spare cash right now to go and buy another.
Please give me some ideas! Thanks

Could you phone a repair shop. You may be able to replace it with a pedal from a different brand.

romeolovedjulliet · 14/09/2020 12:36

have you been on ebay, amazon, local social media ?

Are you on Facebook? There is a sewing group on there called Sewing in the UK which you can join, and they are super helpful for things like this.

Try a local electrical repair shop - ours does all sorts of rewiring of appliances and I’m sure could fix that.

Try here

My (not very local, but manageable) sewing machine repair shop mended mine for me. It was a fascinating place to visit, as they acquire old models for spares, and recondition old machines for charity.
Bit of a hassle, but definitely cheaper than a new machine!

Seconding getting the pedal fixed, either by someone handy with electrics, or an electrical repair shop.

Whereabouts on the U.K. are you?

Totickleamockingbird · 14/09/2020 13:47

You lot are awesome! At least one of these ideas will work I am sure. I did think about re-wiring the bit that broke. Now I will check these options and will report back. Thanks!!

So here is a great update everyone: I shaved the edges of the wire and tapped them very carefully after joining the two ends. Machine is working absolutely fine! Grin I am very happy! Thanks for all your suggestions! Smile

Thanks 😊 I am feeling quite pleased with myself. Have already made a list of things I want to sew this week.

Cut the cable either side of the break so you have clean ends.

Reconnect the wires to each other using a terminal block/junction box. Tape it all up

^ this method requires no skill at all and the parts will be around £2

If you want you could open the pedal and the machine and see how the wires are attached and replace them easily if they're screwed into terminals but it will be more complicated if they're soldered or crimped.

5his is the even cheaper options Grin

For future if it goes again Google "western union splice" you'll get a nice diagram of how to make a very secure twisted wire joint.
