WWYD - Job question

I've been going round in circles about making this decision so wanted to get a few opinions please.

I've been volunteering for a charity for the last few months and a couple of months ago was invited to apply for a paid role, as a volunteer who was doing particularly well. I applied and got through to shortlist, but after interview they said I didn't get the role due to others having more experience but at the same time asked whether I would be interested in doing some sessional work with them. I jumped at the chance, but it's been almost 3 weeks now and there's been no further action. The last I heard, they said they were still figuring out what sessional hours they have available.

They currently have the same role advertised on their website and my conundrum is whether I message the recruiter to ask whether she thinks it's worth me re-applying for the role at this stage, or just to wait until they contact me about the contract work (although as each day passes I lose more hope).

They are advertising for 10 more hours per week than I originally offered but I would make this work even though quite challenging around young DC etc.

What should I do?

Tricky one. It seems a bit strange to go to the recruiter when you already have a direct relationship with the charity. Could you instead speak to one of your contacts that you have previously worked with.

The recruiter is the one who interviewed me and told me about the contract work - sorry, should have been more clear in OP :)
