It's just one thing after another causing me to be off work

Hi all,

I guess I'm just posting because I'm really pissed off with myself - in early pregnancy I suffered with HG so ended up taking four weeks off of work due to this in July, I went back in August and only had one day off due to sickness as it really had settled down - now it's on and off but doesn't usually affect me so I thought great that's the end of being like rubbish and being off work.

Nope last week I had a really bad infection (thrush and a UTI but it was causing really bad belly and back pain, I genuinely thought I was losing the baby) I felt a lot better Friday so was ready to come back into work today and I've been up since 4am throwing up (it's not as bad as HG as I'm keeping water down) but I've been up since 4am throwing up and I just couldn't bring myself to work 8-6 and my employer probably thinks I'm taking the piss.

I just need a handhold, I genuinely do enjoy my job and I don't want to be off but I'm trying to look after myself and baby in a bit of a shit pregnancy but feel like I'm letting my employer down :( x

Oh sorry to hear you have been suffering.
Its a lot of pressure isnt it trying to continue with work and life commitments when you are not physically able to.
I dont really have any wise words but wanted to say you are not alone.

Pregnancy can be hard and most reasonable employers recognise that. Pregnancy related illness is not counted towards cumulative illness absence for monitoring and disciplinary purposes so don't worry about the initial four weeks off as they were definitely pregnancy related. Other than that you have not had that much time off and at least some of it may also be pregnancy related so may not count.
