To ask where to go out in Manchester or Liverpool in your 40s

Pandemic willing, I'm planning some girls weekends in Manchester and/or Liverpool next year onwards.

Where would you mnetters from those areas recommend we go for drinks (in 40s, some singles)?

Liverpool

Christ not Matthew Street

Hope Street -
Lots of places to eat and drink along there - Phillharmonic pub for the tiles in the toilet (yes really), Fredericks, Pen Factory, The Florist, Buyers Club

Bold Street also ok - for small indie places - Maray, Wreckfish Bistro, the original Mowgli, try not to wander too far over to Seel Street and avoid Concert Square like the plague, it's bedlam. Baltic Triangle has lots of bars, including outdoor bars but Cains is a bit lairy these days IMO

Titanic Hotel is a lot of fun, bling nonsense but if you want to be in the city centre Hope Street Hotel (£££) or The Resident (v affordable)

I might be wrong but I don’t think they will serve you in Manchester if your group is larger than 6. We are not meant to meet up with people outside our bubbles indoors at all now.

Sorry, I see you said next year. Hopefully things will be a lot better by then.

Thanks for all these suggestions, will look I to them.

(Yes, it won't be for a while and v unlikely to be six or more people in any case).

I went to a 50th in Liverpool, we partied around Concert Square and I thought it was very young and the music wasn't anything I'd heard! ☺️

I then went to Liverpool again before Christmas and we went to Matthew Street and it was fab, I felt more comfortable and the pubs had mixed ages.

Can't comment on Manchester as I've not been.
