To ask if anyone does online surveys?

I've just come across these websites that you do surveys on and they pay you, but I'm wondering is it a complete waste of time or do people actually make money off them? I'm a SAHM and it'd be a handy extra bit of cash that I could easily earn during the kids naptimes or in the evenings etc.

I do but its pocket money. You will get a few pence per survey and sometimes have to wait ages. I am on 3 different ones and have made probably less than £100 in 6 months on them. I currently have £17 in one account and £15 in another. They can be fun to dip in and out of though when watching tv.

I use a company called i-Say and I earn maybe £5 a month and do a few surveys a week (if that) they take about 15-20 minutes on average. The only reason I do these is because your not expected to put your mobile number in every time you do them, nor do you get spammed with loads of emails etc.
I’ve done them before on some sites and found it takes up a lot of time for very little output. Or you constantly have to sign up to things.

slashlover · 13/09/2020 19:45

I'm a member or 5 or 6, you're never going to get rich from it. I have a separate account set up which any money I make goes into and I use that to pay for Christmas.

I would check MSE as they have a comprehensive list of them.

FedUpofLockdown123 · 13/09/2020 19:46

I do opinium and was getting £25 every month but now it's £25 probably every 2 months.

lockdownbreakdown · 13/09/2020 19:49

I get about £100 a month from intellizoom and prolific. When I went hard at it to get money for Christmas I was earning at least £200 a month but putting in 4 hours a day. I covered Christmas and my child birthday though.

I’m signed up for a few sites and maybe get £50 two or three times a year. It’s a nice little bonus but I definitely wouldn’t count on it for regular income.

1990shopefulftm · 13/09/2020 19:52

I'm signed up to 4 sites, the most i've ever made is £50 in a month, it's a good bonus to use for extra and presents etc but not an income to count on.

Antirrhinum · 13/09/2020 20:06

Be careful which ones you sign up to, and the information you provide and consent to. I signed up to several at once and at least one of them sold on my email and name to other companies. As a result, I got a ton of spam, phishing emails and other dodgy stuff.

As a PP said, Prolific is one of the better paying surveys and they're proper university studies, not just marketing surveys.

slashlover · 13/09/2020 20:08

I do Qmee - The most I've ever earned is £1 for a survey but there are usually always surveys available and you can cash out at any amount.

Prolific - You have to have the site open but you sometimes get decent payouts. Cash out from £5.

One poll - I only check once per day, can be slow going. Cash out at £25.

Populus - Received by email but is roughly £1 per 5 minutes spent on the survey. Cash out at £50

Panelbase - Recieved by email, fairly good rate. Payout at £10.

DamitJanet · 13/09/2020 20:13

I do, over the year I make about enough to pay for Christmas but that’s it. Prolific is the one I make the most on, but it’s worth being on several.

GrouchyKiwi · 13/09/2020 20:19

I used to do quite a few - Panelbase, Opinion Outpost, Prolific, YouGov and one other that I've forgotten. I did them for fun, but got a decent amount out of them. I bought all DH's birthday and Christmas presents from them last year just to make a point to him because he thinks I'm weird for doing them.

I just do Prolific now because they're the most fun as they're academic ones and more varied.

ihaveanunusualsurname · 13/09/2020 20:28

Swag bucks are quite lucrative but matched betting is much better - despite the name it's not betting and risk free

There's details Here
And a Mumsnet thread from last year
here

TheSeedsOfADream · 13/09/2020 20:29

Come and join us on the tenner a day threads, we all use Prolific which is about the most lucrative- £2-£5 per survey usually.

BertieBotts · 13/09/2020 20:30

Get on the Earn £10 a day threads, there are more ideas there than just surveys and swagbucks.

I have not alas ever managed to get to the £10 a day figure but if you're just aiming for a little bit extra that might not really matter.

DivisionBelles · 13/09/2020 20:35

I do Prolific and Opinium. I've got around £90 sitting between them to cash out which has taken me around 4 months to accumulate. I used to do YouGov, but I found some of the surveys really long and boring and it takes ages to get to £50 to cash out.
