To be frustrated and worried (Covid/school related)

CreepyPasta · 12/09/2020 00:08

After 6 months of worry after redundancy I finally get a new job. Couldn’t believe my luck, starting on the day the kids go back to school.

2 weeks in and today the year bubble for my youngest is sent home and has to isolate until the 21st. I knew this would happen but wasn’t expecting it to be so soon.

I’m so angry about the lack of thought for single parents and women who are having to take the brunt of this whole situation.

I agree with all necessary measures being in place to reduce the virus, just need to moan about how crap it is!

It is frustrating. Sorry you're going through it. I'm just waiting for it to happen at my child's school. Its like sitting on a time bomb! Will your nee employers understand?

CreepyPasta · 12/09/2020 00:24

They are being understanding so far and letting me work from home. Though it’s not the norm for the business. It’s male dominated and misogynistic which is another frustrstion.

I agree it’s just awful for single parents.

Erm, I don’t think it’s a case of lack of thought, I think it’s a case of schools trying their best to keep others safe and trying to follow guidelines.
We are still living through a pandemic and the worst may be yet to come with winter around the corner. What else can schools do? Believe me, they do not want to be sending whole year groups home any more than you want to have to keep your kids off. Teachers do not want to return to providing home learning and all the problems associated with that, nor do they want to be put at risk or put their families at risk either

Vent away
Sorry to hear 💐, so disappointing for you
Even though it's necessary, doesn't mean it isn't very hard for some people

CreepyPasta · 12/09/2020 01:03

I don’t blame the schools. It’s the situation. The government should never have put this on the schools to solve.

It's not about the schools though. It's about electing people who have never had to think for 2 seconds about difficulties with affording or arranging childcare. They're organising this shit show.
