To feel embarrassed of who I am

/ uncomfortable in my own skin?

I find myself really cringe - the sound of my voice (especially when heard on tape) is irritating (quite an unusual voice), I stand and move awkwardly, rarely know what it say and I'm just not comfortable with myself.

I have a DP and handful of friends but I find being around new people really hard and I must be quite cringe / annoying.

Has anyone overcome this and if so HOW? Please!

People wouldn't be around you if you were that bad. I caught myself in the mirror the other day and thought 'what an ugly woman' but I'm young looking and have a nice nature and wear good perfume so meh! Looks aren't everything. And voices and the way you stand...really they aren't a big deal. I think we notice things about ourselves that other people dont pay attention to.

Most decent people get to know you ablnd provided you are a pleasant sort, pretty much nothing else matters. Quirks, even annoying ones arent a big deal once you know someone has a good heart.

So dont be so harsh on yourself. Maybe try to focus on the things you like about yourself instead. Or you could tell your friends you've felt a bit low about yourself lately, I'm sure if they are decent they will be all too willing to tell you what they like about you.

Do you think you have social anxiety? Have a Google, do some CBT, speak to yourself kindly and try look at yourself with kind eyes (bet you'd never talk to anyone else the way you talk to yourself!) Xx

I used to feel like that. Age has taught me 95% of the time no one else is analysing you,. They are far to busy with their own emitiobal & life 'stuff' & would be gobsmacked if you told them you'd thought they were analysing your voice, looks or personality. Also, age gives you a feck 'em attitude. Life's too short.
