Historic AIBU

Having a quiet few moments before all the madness of the morning starts.

I've never really done this betore but just out of curiosity I went to a random page 567 of the AIBU page, which happened to cover Christmas day! It's kind of nice to read about the issues and dilemmas that we had before corona virus completely took over our lives.

I found myself reading and wincing at the thought that a few weeks after this was written our lives will be so different, and the issues that we were incensed about, I almost wish that we had those issues now (talking through a cinema screening, what I'd give to be in a busy cinema nowadays🤣🤣). Our lives are just dominated by the situation.

Anyway, as you were 😘😘😘

I do that a lot too. Life is certainly very strange and it makes me sad for kids growing up in all of this. I suppose as a species we generally don't appreciate what we have when we have it

It was also brilliant to read something that was just normal and didn't mention the virus at all!! I might do this more often, instead of going to "Trending" just pick a random page in the past to get my fix 🤣🤣

I was thinking about last September, because as a family we always look forward to the new school year, and this year was, erm, not like that!

I did read something about how whilst it is frustrating and stressful for kids, it doesn't have to be terrible, by learning to deal with this uncertainty they are a really developing. Also we can still laugh and find new ways to connect.

But yes, I'd love to just be reading parking threads again please.

A year ago I was home schooling as my children had no school places. One got a place end of September, the other a month later. The whole time I knew it was just a short term thing.

They spent more time at home last year than at school.

Ha ha! Yes, sometimes threads get bumped and people don't notice and are offering all kinds of helpful advice until someone points out the baby in question is now 15.

Are YOU the reason for the zombie threads being resurrected????

There'll be lynch mobs after you, @notwhattheydo

Op, what a lovely thread. Simpler times!

I feel like that when my FB page brings up memories - some of the things are so trivial!

I've gone back and read a few of the early Covid threads. Dominated by people complaining that anyone had even mentioned it and MN posts saying " we're moving this to the right section". It's astonishing that MNHQ lets itself be bullied by posters in that way really, happened with Brexit too. And yet. Covid did blow up, and it looks like Brexit will, too. Not sure why we have to hide away all the stuff people don't like, can't you just scroll past?

Sometimes with the older threads you wish people had come back to update. For example if they were asking for advice on A level or uni choices - I wish they'd come back and say what their dc did in the end.
