How can I undo damage done by slimming world?

I've had a love/hate relationship with it over the last few years. I know it really works for some people. But it's not for me.

I don't know how I can undo associating foods with Syns and Speed vs Free?

I want to be able to have a piece of pineapple without worrying that it is Free rather than Speed!

Or eat a slice of white bread for 100 calories or whatever and not feel like my whole day is ruined!

Anyone got any advice on how you did it?

@mrsnorrismeow

This is literally the worst possible advice. I work with ED survivors (I am one myself) and keto is absolutely responsible for some major, major issues with food.

That's interesting, in what way?

I find just sticking to calorie counting helpful!!

There are the same number of calories in certain (high syn) pizzas as there are in syn-free pasta dishes! You could live on white toast and pizza and if you had the right calorie allowance you would still lose weight!!

I did Slimming World once and did lose weight but stopped as I was always feeling unwell with all the artificial ingredients such as sweetener and low fat everything that I was consuming and being greatly encouraged to use by the consultant.

I’m not a great cook so I purchased most of their cook books and used them.

My main problem was my portion sizes so I now have that sorted and use full fat foods but less if them instead of artificial stuff.

Also, in the book, sweeteners aren’t proven to help with weight loss. So that’s a load of crap anyway.

The SW mindset eventually goes away OP. I too had a love hate relationship with it for years, but haven’t tried it for over a year now. I’ve finally stopped feeling guilty about eating a bloody avocado. I just ignored the SW ladies voice in my head telling me to load up on pasta and potatoes but not eat mashed banana or blend other fruits. Absolutely ridiculous.

I’m midway through joe wicks 90 day plan now, have lost over a stone and feel bloody fabulous. I’ve lost weight but also gained muscle and am looking more lean, strong and healthy. Expensive plan, but I’ve spent more on SW over the years 🙄

I haven’t been to slimming world in over six years, but I still use the vegetarian recipie book from there.

There are no sweeteners in any of the meals.

Good luck op, have never tried slimming world but a friend posted a criticism of it on Facebook and people really went for her. That has put me off ever considering it.
