to want to buy another mattress?

Bought a 6 foot bed around March this year. All leather, self assembly thing. Fantastic at £155 on ebay, brand new, sleigh bed type! I assembled it myself and then I saw a zipnlink ortho-type mattress at Tesco online for £159 (usually £199)and bought it. However, this is not a particularly good mattress, too soft for hubby and I, sinks at the edges..not brilliant for sex (did I say that?).

The whole bed is very low and I want a thicker firmer mattress with firmer edges.....such as the Sealy Millionaire ortho mattress for around £500, Hubby says no way...says the other mattress will end up in the garage and there'll be very little difference anyway.

Is it worth getting one? There is a local shop who says they'll deliver and take the other mattress away, but it's in really good condition, maybe I could sell it or something?

Just wondering whether people think I'm throwing good money after bad...as my husband says...or whether a good night's sleep is too important to risk with an uncomfortable mattress? Should I wait another 10 years until our current mattress wears out?

SK

If you are unhappy with your current mattress, then it's a good idea to get a new one.

With your nearly new one, you could give it away to a local charity that provides emergency furniture to needy people, such as Besom.

Buy it. But make sure you try it out first, with dh. Mattress is easily the most important factor in getting decent sleep and not causing back damage

...although might be hard to offload a kingsize.

Don't buy a matress online unless you have both had a lie on it to make sure it's right for you. You just can't tell from the description.

But I agree that a good mattress is the most wonderful thing

I've tried out the mattress locally, so I know it's the one I want. Hubby won't come with me to try it out though. It's him that dislike our mattress the most. I don't like it either but it's ok, but there is a sort of sinking sensation going on when you lie on it, like it's all a bit saggy and weak! I tried a memory topper but not keen on the sensation+ our mattress is too soft and the topper made it feel even softer. However if we got the firmer one I want I can use the topper on it to raise it even more. The one I got was only about 1" I think.
