Read this article on the mirror and instantly noticed right away the glaringly obvious error in wording 🙈 surely it wasnt intentional and dont things get proof read any more? Its imo worse because of the article content

dont things get proof read any more?

Online media has tight turnarounds and tight budgets, so mostly not.

Lifeisabeach09 · 08/09/2020 21:40

Onewish05, second paragraph 'Blacklash' instead of 'Backlash.' Totally deliberate, IMO.

Stealhsquirrelnutkin · 08/09/2020 21:42

Have mercy on a dyslexic who couldn't proof read if her life depended on it, and tell me which word was wrong. Please!

onewish05 · 08/09/2020 21:42

@Lifeisabeach09 thank you!

My brain did not detect that at all... BlushAngry

Cattenberg · 08/09/2020 21:44

Not my mistake, but the worst typo I’ve seen was “the rapists” instead of “therapists”.

woofmachine · 08/09/2020 21:44

@Holdingtherope

What is it? Am I blind?
Start of 2nd paragraph
Candyapple49 · 08/09/2020 21:45

I’m a teacher . Auto correct changed a pupil’s name to Satan - luckily I noticed !

buckleten · 08/09/2020 21:45

I did "kind retards" once by accident, spell check didn't pick it up!

PurplePansy05 · 08/09/2020 21:45

Cringing so bad at this. Would it be deliberate?

Howling at some of your stories btw 😂😂😂

lottiegarbanzo · 08/09/2020 21:45

I quite like the word and it would have its uses though, just not as in that context! e.g. 'The statue of Colston experienced a popular blacklash'

Smallsteps88 · 08/09/2020 21:46

@StuntCroissant

A colleague of mine once told me about the time he signed-off an email to a very short client (who was very touchy about it)

"see you shorty".

Grin howling at that!

Not a typo but similar. I work in a bank. I recently started asking a customer “do you know your account number.?” But got confused and said “do you know your name?” Blush everyone heard. And I’m new. Grin

Ccccchanges · 08/09/2020 21:48

Sent an email to someone earlier letting them know that one of my clients had gone on “indefinite dick leave”. Blush

fizzybootlace · 08/09/2020 21:48

Beloved Aunt is fantastic!

Friend went to a restaurant and when I asked what they thought they replied " So good, we were kicking the slaves!" - was supposed to say licking the plates!!

Owlypants · 08/09/2020 21:48

Noticed this a while ago

Stealhsquirrelnutkin · 08/09/2020 21:49

Thanks for the clarification Lifeisabeach09.

It's exactly the kind of mistake I might make without ever realising unless someone pointed it out. Especially if I was writing a sentence that contained the word black.

Ccccchanges · 08/09/2020 21:49

Also read on the front cover of a magazine recently “XXX is standing up for YYY” - XXX is a know wheelchair user HmmBlush

AbbieFB · 08/09/2020 21:49

We got told we'd be required to do a12 hour shit one Saturday a month!

Smoothyloopy · 08/09/2020 21:51

I sent out party invitations saying bring willies ( ment wellies) as it would be muddy.

Bejazzled · 08/09/2020 21:51

I read that 3 times and still didn’t see it Confused
Funny how your eyes deceive you

bumblebeewine · 08/09/2020 21:52

When I sent a message to a colleague re his young son getting out of hospital. ‘hope he does’ autocorrected to ‘hope he dies’ luckily I spotted it before sending.

I don’t think they do proofread as I saw an article during lock down where the journalist had used to words ‘flaunting the rules’ both in the headline and the text. No one had spotted this and it irrationally irritates me still!

Joolsin · 08/09/2020 21:53

Very nearly uploaded "sports cancelled due to unplayable bitches" on the school newsflash page!

toomanyplants · 08/09/2020 21:54

Quite possibly my most favourite ever thread
