aibu to think that drinking 10 units of alcohol every day on a 2 week holiday is a lot?

OP posts:
Juanmorebeer · 08/09/2020 21:26

This would be standard for me on holiday to be honest. 10 units is 1 bottle of wine or 4 beers.

Ugzbugz · 08/09/2020 21:26

Perfectly fine to me, if hes downing it one then that's silly but a few pints over the day, barely an animal, I would defo drink that amount

MomToTwoBabas · 08/09/2020 21:27

Yes everyday that's ridiculous.

MomToTwoBabas · 08/09/2020 21:28

I don't get how people can constantly drink so much and feel its normal.

PercyKirke · 08/09/2020 21:28

3 pints of Guinness a day. On holiday. Normal I would say.

maddy68 · 08/09/2020 21:29

Not in a holiday. That's really easily done. The units don't Jean anything anyway. Google it
If it was 10 units a day normally that's definitely too much

BlueJava · 08/09/2020 21:30

That would be huge for us - i don't drink and DP has 1 to 2 units a day only, sometimes none.

YummyJamDoughnut · 08/09/2020 21:30

I did that easily for a week at 18-25.
A pint of beer is around 2 units, so 5 beers a day. Which isn't really that much, if spread across the day. But if it's needed, its a problem.
I haven't seen your other thread, so can't comment on that.

IceniSky · 08/09/2020 21:31

All those saying it's normal on holiday, do you drink a lot of units at home otherwise how do you not feel ill?

I think across a whole day, a bottle of wine or 4-5 beers is not going to make you feel ill. One with lunch/mid morning, one in the afternoon, 1 or 2 with dinner and maybe one in the evening.
ErinBrockovich · 08/09/2020 21:34

Doesn’t sound like much fun to me on a family holiday. Surely you’d be bouncing from drunk to hungover and back again? I’d probably have a drink most evenings but not be drunk in the day with the DC.

Wolfiefan · 08/09/2020 21:36

Please note everyone that the OP has posted before. This man drinks spirits heavily over the weekend. Every week.
He doesn’t go a day without alcohol.
This isn’t just a holiday binge.

Not so much that it’s normal, but if it’s the only time someone drinks that much, not so much of a big deal. I haven’t read the OP’s other thread but seems there’s a bigger problem here.

No dont drink a lot at home, generally just at weekends. Never felt ill, why would I ? A bottle of wine over the course of a day, probably more some days doesnt make me ill.

Wolfiefan · 08/09/2020 21:46

I couldn’t drink a bottle of wine a day and feel ok.

TheChosenTwo · 08/09/2020 22:17

That’s about my holiday normal! A pint with lunch, another at the end of the day at the beach, a couple of vodkas in the evening (sometimes more!)... it’s relaxing but not enough to make me pissed, i hate feeling drunk but spaced out over the day it doesn’t have the same effect as if I’d drunk it all in the space of a few hours.
At home I don’t drink alcohol during the day because I have to go to work and I only tend to drink either a Friday or a Saturday night.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 08/09/2020 22:23

It's because it's very easy to spread it throughout the day. It's 5 pints of standard or even less of bit stronger beer. Have some with lunch and few in the evening. It's obviously a lot over the week for someone who drink basically nothing normally, but as long as you eat properly and drink non alcoholic drinks too, it's absolutely ok for normal drinker. I am pretty sure that I am on about 15 a day on short holidays...

Wakemeupwhenthisisover · 08/09/2020 22:47

I was ready to say YaNBU as I think drinking every day isn’t great but on holiday it’s a different story and most people don’t keep that level up when they are home.

DrManhattan · 08/09/2020 22:54

Feel sick just thinking about that.
