To cancel plans and stay home?!

I've suffered with anxiety since the birth of my baby in January.

I had some CBT which helped me a lot and I've been able to enjoy the summer as much as I can living by the "new normal".

This week I can't help but feel really down seeing the cases starting to go back up again.

My area has recently been taken off of the watch list after cases have gone down, we're not back to 12/100,000 (population 300,000) however my husband words in the next town who have just been added to a watch list.

I've got a few plans coming up over the next few weeks. Coffee with my other mum friends (indoor at coffee shops) a trip to a local farm, tea at my parents house.

I'm asthmatic (mild and controlled) and I'm really starting to get worried about it all again now.

I was starting to feel so positive and trying not to catastropise, but the last few nights I haven't been able to sleep.

I'm so worried 😞

Would it be unreasonable for me to cancel my upcoming plans?

I wouldn't cancel any. I think the more you stay in the lower your mood and the worse your anxiety will get.

The enjoyment of seeing ppl will be good for you. Follow SD and masks (where needed) and you should be fine.

I would go but stick to outdoor places, so could you do coffee with friends but somewhere outside?

RealityExistsInTheHumanMind · 08/09/2020 19:43

I would go. The longer you stay away from things the harder it is.

Do you know that your chances of catching it are around 1 in 2000 to start with so long as you aren't knowingly spending long periods of time with someone with a known infection.

After that, if you did get it you have only a 2 in 100 chance of being ill with it and practically zero chance of dying.
Put those together and you only have an approximate 2 in a million chance of being seriously ill. That is miniscule and there are many more likely things that could seriously impact your life.

It makes sense to be careful who you mix with, particularly indoors. Wash your hands frequently, keep your distance and within that do whatever you can.

The government is trying to scare young people from going out drinking and socialising. It isn't aimed at you.

The place I'm meeting my friend
doesn't have an outdoor area, but SD Is in place.
