To feel like I can't cope with this

I am really struggling at the moment.

I am pregnant (nearly 20 weeks) and was recently told by the hospital it looks like I'm anemic. I am absolutely exhausted, worse than in my first trimester and have been going to bed early every night. I'm also having problems with my back and sciatica.

I know pregnancy isn't an illness but I'm struggling today. I'm currently working from home and I just feel like I can't cope today. I just want to go to bed and sleep.

Go and have a sleep then if you can. Don't feel bad
Congratulations BTW

I just feel a bit daft and unreasonable telling work I need to leave early for a nap 🤦‍♀️

I was knackered when I was pregnant, I slept most of the day, so you have my sympathy
Just say you need to go home and rest.

OP you have my sympathy - when I was pregnant with DD1 my eyes were rolling back in my head every afternoon and I was exhausted. Are you on iron tablets? I was on them and tried to incorporate iron rich foods into my diet alongside. Don't fight the urge to sleep - it'll make you feel a lot worse

Everyone always says pregnancy isn't an illness but sometimes it very much is. Go for a sleep if you can OP. I'm on my third pregnancy, also 20 weeks and I absolutely feel your pain. I'm still on tablets for sickness which are also a sedative so make it even worse.

Fatigue in pregnancy is no joke, when you combine that with anemia you will be feeling absolutely exhausted.

No pregnancy is not an illness but it comes with a whole heap of symptoms which can make you feel very ill indeed.

Luckily, you are protected re your sick leave if it’s pregnancy related (although not to be abused as they can force you onto early mat leave) but it’s not unreasonable to need a few hours rest or the odd extra nap here and there.

Have you got your iron tablets? I needed them around 28 weeks and I felt so much better once they kicked in.

Thanks I feel less ridiculous now. I just feel awful because work is so busy and here I am wanting to clock off early to go to sleep.

I have started iron tablets but only the last couple of days when the hospital found out from bloods they'd taken about the anemia.
