New guy doesn't talk between dates

Doesn't bother me massively but I find it a bit difficult never talking. If I message him he often logs in to his WhatsApp but doesn't reply sometimes for up to 24 hours. Things are amazing when we're together, but literally between every date I convince myself he's not interested as I hardly hear from him.

Are some people just like this or is he just not that interested?

It makes me very aware of not wanting to text him or ask him about it as I definitely don't want to find across as needy (which I'm not!)

Thanks everyone. Still feeling a bit anxious. Meant to be meeting on Saturday and I need to sort childcare. He's not replied to my message from yesterday morning about plans. Starting to get a bit annoying

So in that case OP, you need to explain to him why it is important he reply. "I do need a confirmation from you that we're still on for Saturday, as I'm arranging childcare".

DS is doing a social media detox. He's removed social media apps from his phone and only checks his laptop once a day for important messages. He says he's stopped twitching, restarted hobbies and is working well.

Maybe you could try an old fashioned phone call?

between every date I convince myself he's not interested as I hardly hear from him.

Why? Has he given you any actual cause to think that?

I was exactly the same when DW and I were dating when she would pester me with pointless messages. Indeed I have been told off for it by friends- I just don't really get much from messaging and don't see it as any different from email (i.e. about 3 days is a fine reply timescale). If I actually want to speak to someone I ring them.

These days DW messages me at a frequency I find acceptable and I reply each time; even messaging her randomly to ask how her day is.

We acomplished this miracle by her telling me she needed more communication and me explaining why I found lots of messages during the day too much.

Try talking to him about it.

As much as we try to pretend nowadays that there is no difference between men and women there clearly is especially when it comes to communication!
Men usually text to send essential information. Women text to build a bond and to feel connected (which is why there doesn't need to be much actual content).
If course I am generalising, I am sure there are male chatters and female silent types.
But in light of that he should definitely have responded to your need to know about childcare OP. Did he respond?

I've just messaged him again. I hope it doesn't come across as needy but I really do need to know what's happening!

Phone not message if it is something that requires preparation such as childcare sorting out.
