@ChickenwingChickenwing please tell me you put salt on chips at least? You must season some things!

stovetopespresso · 07/09/2020 13:31

@Koalaismyspiritanimal

Technically it's not a salad unless it's seasoned... something to do with the Latin for salt. Me & DH also now work this the other way by declaring any seasoned vegetable, or indeed fruit, a "salad", no matter the quantity involved Grin
wow I learned something!! I guess salado in Spanish means 'salted'.... yes I usually do, plus do a nice line in cold broccoli+ balsamic like the italians did in "my" region

Actually, yes, I do. Salt and vinegar if I get them from the chipper. I don't eat chips at home

Iwantacookie · 07/09/2020 13:33

Salad just doesnt taste right without salt and pepper.

iswhois · 07/09/2020 13:34

Yes. I do a bit of olive oil and vinegar and salt and pepper on top

greengreengrass14 · 07/09/2020 13:34

depends if I'm trying to lose weight, cut salt intake etc.
like the idea of wholegrain mustard in dressing...

IF feta cheese then that is salty anyway so just add pepper and some sort of lemon juice for greek salad.

but sometimes also drench in fave dressing from jar.

Oysterbabe · 07/09/2020 13:36

I usually just add Balsamic vinegar.

BashfulClam · 07/09/2020 13:36

I just had a salad with a nice sprinkle of salt.

Charlottejade89 · 07/09/2020 13:36

Yes, its so bland otherwise. We usually do olive oil, salt, pepper, oregano, and lemon juice

Sparklesocks · 07/09/2020 13:37

A bit of pepper and some olive oil really makes it for me. I find salad without it can be quite bland.

LesLavandes · 07/09/2020 13:39

Yes. Simple decent extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice, salt and pepper

bumblingbovine49 · 07/09/2020 13:39

Yes always add a bit f salt, usually some olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Tomatoes and cucumber are much improved with a sprinkle of salt on them.

Twickerhun · 07/09/2020 13:42

No - all these people who put pepper on a salad you are insane. Black pepper kills all good gently flavoured food stuffs.

stovetopespresso · 07/09/2020 13:50

I had fried lettuce once

unchienandalusia · 07/09/2020 13:52

Yes of course. Vinaigrette, salt and loads of pepper.

Baaaahhhhh · 07/09/2020 13:53

Salad is not a salad without Olive Oil and Balsamic, and a grind of black pepper. No salt though, unless it is just a tomato salad, then it needs salt.

Not if you put just little bit of freshly cracked pepper 😁
jay55 · 07/09/2020 13:58

Celery needs salt but I don't like it on lettuce.

Absofruitly · 07/09/2020 14:01

Yup. I chuck together a basic vinaigrette dressing: olive oil, balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, salt and pepper and put it on all my salads. Yum!

CoronaBollox · 07/09/2020 14:01

Most times I will have a dressing, or just a bit of pepper. Chilli flakes are nice on certain salads too.

No, never use any dressing just a squeeze of fresh lemon or lime

BigBlondeBimbo · 07/09/2020 14:18

I sometimes make a dressing with salt and pepper in it, but salad is one of the few things I like without any seasoning on it.

Angelina82 · 07/09/2020 14:26

Yes with salt, vinegar and/or lemon juice and olive oil. Tastes crap otherwise.

RiftGibbon · 07/09/2020 14:40

During lockdown we started making a 'sprinkle' for salad. It was drizzled with oil/vinegar and then the sprinkle went on top. That was made of walnuts (we had an excess), pumpkin seeds, chia seeds and some salt.
