Is this another Covid rule? Really very surprised to arrive to find nothing.. have used this company loads of times and usually get a rather lovely welcome pack.
If it is Covid related... how ridiculous.

Ask them??

Thisisnotnormal69 · 06/09/2020 13:52

Not sure how we are supposed to know! Ask them

AlwaysCheddar · 06/09/2020 13:52

Did they say they’d leave a welcome pack?

VodselForDinner · 06/09/2020 13:52

Is this another Covid rule?

Hi OP.

I’ve just checked with your holiday letting company and they have confirmed that this isn’t a Covid rule, they’ve just stopped doing welcome packs.

They wanted me to check to see if you’re ok for towels or if you want more sent over?

Kind regards,
Vodsel

Vodsel 😂😂

lifesalongsong · 06/09/2020 13:56

I'm sure I heard Boris say that no hot beverage ingredients were to be provided in holiday lets, spike in cases traced back to individual drink sachets.

But if I misheard I'm sure the cottage owners will know the answer.

blackberryjelly · 06/09/2020 13:57

Yes, it's Covid related. There is lots of advice for owners from the hospitality industry. We cannot leave loose items of any food stuffs. Sealed packets are ok.

blackberryjelly · 06/09/2020 13:58

cross post!

Some of these responses are a bit unfair (and not particularly funny). It wasn't that ridiculous a question... OP we rented a holiday cottage recently are were warned in advance there would be no welcome pack because of new Covid rules. It seems a bit annoying they didn't let you know in advance if it's something you'd normally expect though.

DeeTractor · 06/09/2020 14:06

"What was it that Thumper used to say?"

Ask stupid questions, get stupid answers?

VodselForDinner · 06/09/2020 14:07

What was it that Thumper used to say?

Let me google that for you while I’m waiting to hear back from your letting company re: your teabag.

I must say I'm surprised too, sarcasm is do rare on MN.

We stayed over somewhere last month and they told us there would be no tea, coffee or milk due to covid

SmudgeButt · 06/09/2020 14:16

Lots of companies are using C19 as a reason for all sorts of things. I was told by a shop that they weren't allowed to do any returns of any sort due to C19. So if you bought a nails for a DIY project and got home to discover they were the wrong type a store that previously would have let you exchange or return for a full refund would now refuse. So much for goodwill.

IntermittentParps · 06/09/2020 14:18

Really no need for the unfunny snark. The OP might have thought Mnetters might have had holiday letting experiences and have insight into this. And/or BE holiday renters, and therefore know the answer.

Buy your own teabags?

You'd have to provide your own milk n sugar anyway 🤷🏻‍♀️

Why, do you only expect it at The Other Place?

tara66 · 06/09/2020 14:21

OP if you were going to stay for several days and it was a holiday let - did you not bring tea bags with you?

All joking and sarcasm aside, are you near any shops? I’m glad you posted, OP, as this wouldn’t have occurred to many posters. They’ll now know to buy a few things for their arrival.

Redtartanshoes · 06/09/2020 14:23

I think w lot of companies are using Covid as an excuse to make cut backs and. Save money. They could buy a pack of tea bags, some coffee and milk for about £4... but I guess not doing that could save a couple of hundred pounds over the year.

notregistered · 06/09/2020 14:24

Thank you. Yes indeed I thought some of you would have known having holidayed already.

This company usually provide tea, coffee, sugar, milk, bread, butter and wine. Often cake. Sausages, bacon.

Sad playground behaviour
