And if not, to whom?

I was in a large craft store earlier, with my bubble friend. Friend was looking for a special bit of sewing machine.
A shop lady asked if we needed any help.
Friend started to explain what she wanted.
Her mask slipped down her face as she was talking.
Shop lady says leave your mask. Dont worry about putting it back on right, I dont believe in them anyway. ( her choicel, she wasnt wearing one)
But she then went on to explain she was going to some rally later in the month.
Marching in London, with other non-maskers. No social distancing.
And was planning on returning to work the next day.
We had no issue until she told us the last bit!
The shop is usually frequented by pregnant ladies buying baby wool and knitting patterns, little old ladies buying similar, young kids buying crafts. (Yes, I have generalised. )

If you're maintaining a social distance I cant see the problem.

Crankley · 05/09/2020 22:55

The Stasi would have been thrilled to have so many people who seemingly can't wait to report others. All the tittle tattles are having a field day during lockdown.

If it doesn't impact on your life I suggest you mind your own business and find something more interesting to do.

PurpleMonkeyDishwasher86 · 05/09/2020 23:06

The fact that you felt the need to check says even you think it might be wrong. I get that it's frustrating to be following the rules when others aren't, but reporting is going too far. If she's that open about it then I imagine her boss knows anyway.

FlorenceNightshade · 05/09/2020 23:09

Maybe I’ve read this wrong but here’s my take.

She’s going to attend a rally without social distancing then attend work the next day.

Customers in shops wear masks and have to socially distance themselves from staff. Staff have to distance themselves from each other.

Literally wtf is your problem?

FlorenceNightshade · 05/09/2020 23:10

@MyNameHasBeenTaken in fact I’ve just realised who you should report it to! The Daily fucking Mail

Gancanny · 05/09/2020 23:16

What exactly would your complaint be? "Dear Hobbycraft, one of your employees is going to a rally in her free time, please can you stop her from doing what she wants during her non-working time"?

Whether you agree with her views or not, and I personally agree that she's a bit of a dick, she has a right to do what she likes in her own time and YWBU to report it to her employer.

Saz12 · 05/09/2020 23:16

It’s a bit rubbish that after months of lockdown people choose to dick about with such trivial inconveniences (masks, hand wash, distance).

I can’t get worked up about having to stand further apart and wear a mask, I don’t mind if other people can’t for any reason.

So, no, I’d not report it. The risk from a very short interaction is so small, even if either person had CV.

Pinkflipflop85 · 06/09/2020 07:22

Report what exactly? To who?

BlackberrySky · 06/09/2020 07:45

There is no channel for reporting this and why would you anyway? To me, this comes under the umbrella of "reasons why we maintain distance from people we don't know" and "part of the risk of going shopping if we choose to do so".

Biscuit
PhilCornwall1 · 06/09/2020 08:08

What exactly are you reporting?

HarryElephante · 06/09/2020 08:15

Ring 999.

Let us know how it goes.

Sallycinnamum · 06/09/2020 08:39

My God this has to be a wind up surely?

BillysMyBunny · 06/09/2020 08:45

Who would you even report this to?

What the lady does in her free time is up to her. People leaving the house should be assuming that all others are an infection source and taking the measures they think necessary (Eg: social distancing, masks, hand sanitisers, gloves, hand washing, not touching faces, online shopping etc) to protect themselves. Any pregnant women/ little old ladies etc are responsible for protecting themselves, they can’t assume others will do it for them so it really should make no odds as to whether the shopkeeper is following all the guidance around protective measures and self-isolating etc or whether she is meeting up with large groups of people every night, the way the vulnerable interact with her in the shop should be the same and they should be carrying out their shopping with the assumption she ir anybody else in the shop could be infected.
