To be a 40 year old woman that plays Fortnite

I've started playing Fortnite on my DS's switch. Downloaded it for him but realised it's too old for him (I initially thought it was about dancing!) But found that I am actually really enjoy playing it and I think I'm quite good. My DH thinks it's an unusual thing to do for someone from my 'demographic'! Does anyone else on here play Fortnite?

@Shantotto what games would you recommend? I absolutely loved Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and would love something similar to that.

The Witcher/ Skyrim

That's two votes for the Witcher...might have to give it a bash. Thanks.

Black Flag is amazing on Switch as well (think the bundle is called the Rebel Collection?).

D4rwin · 03/09/2020 16:29

My manchild ex plays it. I'm biased I don't see the point in computer games. I suspect there are more interesting games out there.

I'm a gamer in my 30s. Shooters arent really my thing but since it's free I gave it a go. Totally see the appeal but am completely rubbish at it. Only played about 15-20 games but I dont think I've ever successfully killed anyone (did finish 2nd once though!)

Fall Guys seems to be more my pace.

No Fortnite here but DH (late 40s) is an avid PC gamer of various different games. Always has been, always will be. It's one of his favourite ways to relax.

As long as it doesn't become obsessive, or impact negatively on family life, why not?

It's not my idea of fun at all but DH appears perfectly capable of holding down a busy senior job and spending time with his family etc as well as indulging his gaming habit. Another major advantage is that kids and teens have far more respect for your opinion with respect to computer and video games if you are a gamer yourself.

I'm 36 and have just bought myself a Switch Lite (found DD's normal Switch a bit too heavy) and DH bought me my own copy of Animal Crossing New Horizons and I bloody love playing it!! Grin

Whatever floats your boat right?

Dryadia · 03/09/2020 17:16

keep meaning to play, I love PVP, DH doesn't unfortunately and we already have a number of games we play. We are both in early 50's and bought 3 kids as gamers, currently empire building across Ark maps .Grin Wink

So miss old school WOW PVP, chasing back & forward across the land. "sighs".

InTheCludgie · 03/09/2020 19:34

Dryadia always been pve on wow, pvp scares me! Loved it when Classic came out, loads of friends from years back guilded together, was like old times and had major nostalgia!

Dryadia · 04/09/2020 02:05

InTheCludgie Oh my god, the Hillsbrad Foothills PVP battles, running between Alliance's Southshore & Horde's Tarren Mill. Hundreds of players facing off against each other.

The call would go out across the entire server and both sides would fly into the foothills just to smash the hell out of each other, no rewards, no honours. A gamers version of the start of West Side Story, on a massive scale hahaha

They made it into a special battleground event for the 10th anniversary event but was not the same. 40v 40 pah!
