I am stressing about mat leave pay and how low it is.
Just going through my income/outgoings and my main drain is on food. We are a family of 5, two adults, DC 18, 15, 13.
I am spending between £700-£800 a month on food. Is this ridiculous?!
I do cook mostly from scratch but will use a few pasta jars etc. I shop at local market for fruit and veg and the butchers for meat. We all like a big evening meal usually with meat or chicken and I always make sure there's salad or veg on the plate. I shop at home bargains and Asda for cupboard stuff, mainly use the freezer for left overs and don't like to waste anything.
I do try and plan meals but I think I've got in a habit of not doing this properly and then money gets frittered nipping to the shop. I then spend £30 easily feather than just getting what I need.

Reading this back I know I need to get much much better organised but really need your tips on how??
How do you plan meals without getting bored of it being repetitive?
We all eat well, no fussy eaters apart from a dislike of cheese and eggs.
Any advice for me to save a massive chunk of money please??

Also I hate Aldi. I'd never get a full shop in there

I have been exclusively doing a Tesco click and collect recently. The basket is limited to 95 items so it makes you really think.

I spend between 40-95 a week on 2 adults and 17, 13,8,6 kids.

I tend to do a big one pot. If needed I can make 500g of mince go around us all by using two tins of chopped tomatoes, pasta, Tom puree and a cup of soya mince. Soya mince works out quite cheap.

I also do a cheese, bacon and broccoli pasta that can feed us all with a pack of cooking bacon for a pound. Pad out with two broccoli heads and the kids can eat it till they are stuffed.

Maybe think what really cheap but healthy meal you could add in even just once or twice a week. I mostly cook everything from.scratch but I dont have time for complex meals.

I go to Aldi to get stir in pasta sauce, pasetta, noodles and cereal every now and then. Their holdhold products are good too. Just swooping them.out saves a bit. You dont have to buy their fresh food ( which I think is ok but it goes off very fast)

I think it's a lot to spend. We are a family of 4 2 adults a 16 and 18 year old who eat more than us! I spend around £100 - £120 a week. I've discovered Meatsupermarket online. Good quality meat. We love their 3kg brisket for £20 can get several meals out of one. I also have a local pig farm who sells pork by the 1/4 and 1/2 pig at £4 a KG which is great and fantastic quality. I have got used to ordering from Tescos during lock down keeps a better eye on what I'm buying but I also buy fruit and veg, and a few other things in Aldi. Farmfoods can also be good especially if you use their coupons. I don't buy ready made meals now and that is also quite a saving as well.

Family of five and we spend between 60 and 80 pounds per week. This includes 2adults, 2 teens and a ten year old, 1 dog

Its perfectly doable and to all those who are unbelieving and say it's impossible.. lol...we are on minimum wage. We have no choice.

We eat pretty well, I meal plan and nothing is wasted. We have 3 vegetarian meals per week. I cook from scratch and we still manage to eat loads of fruit and veg. But our portions are not massive, never have been, if anyone is hungry then they can have toast or fruit. We dont buy alcohol regularly only as a treat and we never buy ready meals.

I dont do fancy meals, cant be arsed with that, dont have the time.

Spending 200 pounds a week on food for 5 people is alien to me.
