What could I get my mother for her 70th bday? She is active and reasonably fit. I would have liked to take her away on a nice vacation but with Covid still lurking I don't feel that's a very responsible thing to do. She's had a tough few years so i would like to get her something special

Not for my Dm's 70th but hwr 71st, she made a comment one day that she liked owls and would like to hold one. This was news to both me and my sister. If we had known this presents would have been so much easier. We took her to an attraction that had owl and bird of prey shows and holdings. She was delighted. We also had afternoon tea afterwards. Her Christmas present that year was a framed photo of her holding an owl and since then presents have been a little easier.

I am close to her age and was fit and healthy until last year when bastard cancer got me , working my way back now .
Presents that I have loved
Heated throw
Neom candles and bath oils
Cashmere socks.
Small art works .
Good nail varnish .
Bath sheet.
Gin
Gin
Anything a notch or two above what I would have bought for myself .
I would rather one candle than a collection of cheaper ones .

Ooh fairy lights . I use them all year
Garden lights .
Hope these are of some use .

We’ve just organised a fab present for my DH who is nowhere near in age but still might suit - boots do 1000 piece jigsaws you can make yourself out of loads of photos dropped into a photo collage. We’ve built an impossible one with masses of mixed up photos of all the random things he’s loved doing eg onions/parsnips he’s grown, birds/animals he’s photographed, walks we’ve been on together etc in the last two or three years. It’s going to be impossible to do without a photo and should take him ages - I’m really excited - under £30.

I got my DM a big canvas print of a photo of her grandchildren for her 70th. She loved it so much she requested the same thing (updated) for her 71st.
