To ask your tips for a healthier lifestyle

I've really let myself go during lockdown.

I've put on over a stone. I eat endlessly throughout the day. I am still working from home so rarely leave the house unless it's for shopping or the odd day out with dc. I'm overweight, unmotivated and really need to shake myself out of this rut.

I think when the dc go back to school it will signify a new start and change the routine slightly. But I'm really worried that this is how I am now. Do any of you have any practical tips for a healthier lifestyle? What do you do each day to help improve your mental and physical health? I need a massive kick up the arse!!!!

Just commit to being kind to yourself and really work hard on that, and the rest, I promise, will fall into place.

Give yourself little sensory moments as a gift- take a few moments to really feel how snuggly your duvet is, or how soft your socks are, or how lovely your cup of tea tastes.

Once you start to become aware of your reactions in these moments, it will start to become instinctual to make better choices. When you eat a healthy meal as an indulgence instead of a penance, you’re creating a lifestyle that will take root.

And it’s ok to eat a bucket of chocolate if that’s what you need in the moment. Don’t be unkind, but learn to check in with yourself about what you really need - sometimes it’s not comfort food but just comfort. A snuggly blanket, a brisk walk, a bath, a healthy snack, some upbeat music, etc might be what you’re actually craving.

There’s so much unkindness being directed at you - I am incredibly greedy...stuffing my gob...disgusted at my self...guilty If it was coming from another poster I’d report it! So I’m calling you out on it.Smile I really don’t think you deserve that kind of abuse. Flowers

Thank you all. I'm pleased I started this thread.
Oh and I downloaded a gratitude journal app on my phone last night. It feels so much more simple to do it that way than actually write in a journal. Plus you get prompts to help.
