I have a job offer in an after-school club. I need to either accept or reject it tomorrow morning.

Anybody want to give me a heads up on the good and bad of working in an after-school club?

Why would you apply for a job you don’t even know if you want? What a ridiculous thing to do when there would have been applicants desperate for it.

Have you got zero experience working with children? Because if you had you would know exactly what you’d be doing.

Do people actually apply for jobs then wait till they get it until they research the role?

Bonkers thread of the night...

If you need to ask at this late stage, I would say the job is not for you.

Seems that way. I know some people on UC are forced to apply for jobs they don't want so that they don't get sanctioned, but of someone applies for jobs they don't really want and then get offered them, that's just a waste of every bodies time. Then, of course, of someone actually takes a job they don't really really want, they'll half arse it, not really give a shit and eventually quit or leave, eating everyone's time. Then mix in working with kids that might form attachment and the half arsing and leaving after a short time is magnitudes worse for everyone involved. What a shit show..

Show them that you're firm but fun from day one, I started off far too lax lol.

Is it run by the school? Or by a committee? If the answer is by committee, my first thought would be to find out how much money they have and how stable the club is financially. I was chair of an as club committee for a while and it was a nightmare keeping the club financially viable. We were always on the brink of closure and it was so stressful not wanting to let the parents down.
If it’s a big school with a well established club with a good reputation and good ofsted results - I’d go for it.
