Posting here for traffic as I’m freaking out!

I’ve had a boil/s under my arm for the last two months. I’ve been washing it with salt water, have taken all antibiotics prescribed by the nurse (GP’s weren’t available). I didn’t squeeze it at all, it would just (TMI) occasionally dribble pus or blood.

I’ve been ignoring it for the past few days as we are away, though going home tomorrow. Today the pain has been increasing and I’ve just finally had another look at it.

That red is NOT blood, it is solid and feels (Envy) fleshy.

What on Earth is happening under there? I can’t seem to find any google results and won’t be able to see a doctor until tomorrow night.

Anyone had anything like this?

If it's in your armpit it could maybe be either an infected ingrown hair or sweat gland?

Got to say I'd have been squeezing the bastard frequently.

100% get to the Dr. as that's a long time to not heal with ABs etc.

blagaaw99 · 27/08/2020 19:23

I would make a face to face Drs appt for tomorrow OP. Flowers

boredboredboredboredbored · 27/08/2020 19:36

Looks like overgranulation to me (im a nurse). Are you still dressing it? The nurse should be able to recommend the best dressing for it. If does it may need swabbing. Is your temp ok?

NuttySquinter · 27/08/2020 19:40

Thank you @boredboredboredboredbored.

It’s a little above normal but not anything I’m too concerned about. I’m not shivering or anything, it’s 38.1.

38.1 is high, you may have an infection. Please take some paracetamol, make an appointment to see a gp tomorrow, and if you feel worse go to urgent care.
It looks sore, how does the skin feel around the wound?

Mrsmadevans · 27/08/2020 19:46

It looks like Folliculitis

You need to see a Gp tomorrow l'm afraid OP , BEST OF LUCK.

Blankblankblank · 27/08/2020 19:52

PHE advises a Coronavirus test for temps above 37.8 so your temp is a high temp.
Do NOT try and make a F2F app with a Dr, with a temp that high you wouldn’t be let in the building. Can you take a clearer photo so when you speak to them in a telephone consultation they could text you a link to send the photo for them to look at?

NuttySquinter · 27/08/2020 19:57

I have had CV (confirmed in June) so fairly certain it isn’t that but will follow the guidelines.

The skin around it is very sore, I’m trying to pack the cases for tomorrow and it is hurting quite a bit (far more than I’d expect given it’s not that big a wound!)

I will definitely call the doctors tomorrow and try to get seen/photo and phone appt.

A vampire bit perhaps, they ll keep coming back to feed. Get some garlic

daytriptovulcan · 27/08/2020 20:54

Sorry

LadyFlumpalot · 27/08/2020 20:58

I would be phoning 111 (yeah I know) with a high temperature and an infection that won't heal that is hurting again. Sepsis is not to be messed around with and can set in very fast. Once you get to the high temperature/feeling unwell point it's because the infection is already travelling and your body is fighting it.

Knowhowufeel2 · 27/08/2020 20:59

Looks like skin granulation to me too, which is the wound healing, but like it's got a bit carried away and forgot to stop.

Lolalovesmarmite · 27/08/2020 21:00

Definitely GP. I spent 8 months struggling with a recurrent infected cyst and getting antibiotics in time was really important. Infections in the skin can turn really nasty and aren’t something I would mess about with now.

Bloops · 27/08/2020 21:18

Wonder if it's a cyst? Could be many different things that need treatment, so see your GP ASAP. Feel better soon.

mellowww · 27/08/2020 21:25

38.1 is high. Your body is fighting some infection or other. A non-healing wound is never good. Call 111.

KaleWhale · 27/08/2020 21:30

Please call 111. Are you close to a walk in or A and E? It's very likely they could start IV antibiotics tonight if that's what you needed and you could continue them at home.

emilygx · 27/08/2020 21:36

Have you got them anywhere else or had more than just this one? Looks similar to a hidradenitis suppurativa.
