To be slightly gutted about returning to " normal."

Expecting a flaming but whatever....
I want dd to go back to school...sge needs it but I return to work properly as a student in a hospital on Tuesday which means very early starts, long commutes, PPE, house a tip and my anxious rumbly tummy has returned.
I liked lockdown at first...ended up hating it and am ready to get going again but will be hard getting back on the treadmill.

I absolutely love the social distancing. I'm in my 40s now but still get men coming right up behind me in queues, stroking my arm when walking past, touching my DD etc. Social distancing ended that.

How long are you studying for? Do you have plans for breaks and are you getting help with your anxiety?

toastmeahotcrossbun · 27/08/2020 10:38

YANBU. It'd be different if coronavirus had gone imo. Not looking forward to the early mornings.

anyone using slightly and gutted in the same sentence is being unreasonable.

Not unreasonable to be nervous, I always recommend dark chocolate for anxiety. The magnesium it contains does help anxiety and it's a recommendation that is better received than most.

If it helps a lot of health care staff are testing negative for antibodies, PPE does work when you have it.

I feel the same. In fact I feel sick about being in a classroom teaching mixed 'bubbles' of 250, with hundreds per week facing straight towards me.

It's very easy for people who can continue WfH to dismiss this concern and even to try to gaslight it as health anxiety, which it isn't.

Much as I want to do my job, this isn't right (and I'm not putting my family into poverty by resigning before someone helpfully suggests it again).

YANBU to feel a bit nervous, but YABU to be gutted. Presumably your colleagues in the hospital were working through the worst of the peak. Look on the bright side and appreciate the fact you got to stay home.

I know how you feel, I go back as a 3rd year student paramedic in a week amd 3 kids to get to school all at different times. For the past week though, I've been up a 6.30am doing assignments to get back into it.

Strokethefurrywall · 27/08/2020 14:27

I can understand it. Our kids here were due to have a staggered start to school with DS2's year going back on 2 Sept and DS1's year going back on 16 Sept.

However we are now officially COVID free here, so nobody has to wear masks (unless they choose too), and kids all return to school next Wednesday - life will be going very quickly back to normal, with the exception of our closed borders.

I've been back in the office since early July, so was quite looking forward to homeschooling one kid for a couple of weeks!! Instead we'll go back to frantic early morning rush, slow moving traffic and the horror of making packed lunches... Grin

I think it must be nice to have actually been off to have the opportunity to be gutted to be going back.
I’ve worked right through in a hospital. No time off here.

This I agree with 100%. I’m hoping this can be kept up

Return to school and work I’m in two minds about. The kids need to go to school next week, it’s right for them I know. I can work from home so a different situation than you. But I’ve enjoyed a bit of annual leave without worrying about work stuff, so I’ll be sad for that to end!

LadyLairdArgyll · 27/08/2020 15:25

I've not stopped working, it's been more frustrating having people returning to work complaining about being 'back' whilst the rest of us have been here the entire time, but that's another issue entirely OP. It's nice to see people out and about again. Flowers
