Kids sleepover?

I have a primary school age DS. He's been asked for a sleepover to a friend.

Virus wise, I can't decide what I think about this - we've had playdates with kids. They've come here, DS has been there. He's done lots of summer clubs with kids.

Us adults have been much more cautious, still SD, not eaten or been in a restaurant/bar etc. No holiday etc etc.

My gut is to let him. Good gut? Or Bad gut?

If i am happy with play dates, visiting etc I am happy with sleepovers as I don't think the virus knows the difference between a few hours or overnight

@DamitJanet

I wouldn’t. I know many are taking the stance that they’re mixing at school so why not, but to me the fact that they’re mixing with others at school (a positive thing IMO) means it’s important to be more cautious in other situations to decrease the over all risk.
Absolutely this.

@ineedaholidaynow

And that is why it is going to be a disruptive school term
Exactly.

And please think of the staff and the vulnerable pupils in school

We've only allowed 'campovers'. Each child in own tent in the garden.

Child has been in bubble all summer. Same bubble now back at school, absolutely no SD within it. DC friend lives on our cul de sac, is also in bubble. They've played together all day in school bubble, then after school on bikes.
As a PP said, does the virus know the difference between day and night?

Before we went into local special measures I let my ds have a tent sleepover with one friend and an allotment camp out with 3 friends. He had been so good over lockdown and missed them so much. Now we can't even socialise with anyone outside of our own family again so I am glad I let him while I could
