In pain and fed up that due to covid I can get the relief I need

OK I know I am be being unreasonable but in pain which is making me very grumpy (just ask my kids haha).

Anyway I have suffered with a pelvic condition for years and have had physio on and off over that time. I had got to a point that I could manage the pain with special exercises. Over the last 6 months the pain has been getting worse and last week I slipped and knew instantly I had aggravated it further. Anyway I self referred to the NHS physio, explaining history etc. They emailed with a standard reply, due to covid we can't see you in person, here are some exercises for you (from the exercises given they clearly haven't looked at my condition as these exercises aren't recommended) if no better in 14 days email again and we may be able to offer you a remote consultation via video call!!

I need to see a physio, so they can help manipulate my pelvis.

We are all being told to go to work so why isn't all services in the NHS back. If they are wearing PPE and I wear PPE, like when you see the GP, dentist etc. If you can have your hair, nails tatoos done, why can't I have some physio?

Sorry to rant on. In pain and annoyed that due to covid I can get the treatment I need.

Can you afford private physiotherapy? In my experience it was worth the money.

Private practices are working, my friend has been seen twice within a week, but obviously there is a cost.

Snuggles81 · 27/08/2020 00:15

Private is something we are looking at but at the moment its a none starter due to finances.
But that also annoys me more, if the Private is open why not the NHS 🤔

Has to be private right now unfortunately. I paid £50 for an hour just today for a sciatica problem.

Because the NHS is now the NCS and nothing else is important. Some Trusts/departments are worse than others.

Regardless of the fact that most hospitals haven't seen a case for weeks - and more people are dying of other respiratory conditions such as flu than are dying from Covid.

It is so wrong and you have my sympathy but that doesn't really help. All I can suggest is call again and again, stay polite but cry on the phone, beg them as an individual to do something. Hopefully you will get somewhere.

You have my sympathy. My dad is on the waiting list for a hip operation and is in pain. He was told that our local NHS has not yet restarted hip operations, but that he could pay to have the operation done privately with the same consultant as he sees under the NHS. Just shocking.

We are all being told to go to work so why isn't all services in the NHS back.

They are working in some areas. They are in mine.

In the last fortnight I've been in to my rheumatology department and had a brief consultation, referred for and had a steroid injection and been told that we can refer for physio (who are working clinics here) if it didn't improve. I've also had an x ray too. Before that I was also seen my the doctors (GP) and prescribed better pain meds, as well as having a telephone consultation with my own consultant too.

So in some area these services are now up and running. Fingers crossed they get more on track everywhere.

Hope you can get sorted soon. Being in pain is awful.

I've had private physio this month, one rubbish face to face consultation and another very poor quality 10 min Whatsapp call. Private doesn't seem to be the answer either. It's strange that I can get a massage, tattoo, dental treatment but no chance of seeing a medical professional. It's terrible and I'm so sorry that you too are suffering.
