To think there's no decent bra out there?

I'm really struggling to find the holy grail everyday bra.
I have a couple of bras that actually fit me ok that I was measured for in debenhams quite a while ago - but they are lace as it was just about the only style that suited me but they don't look good under smooth or thin fabrics...
I've had some less than great experiences in 2 high street stores before that which either wanted to put me in some horrible bdsm looking stuff (no it wasn't Ann Summers) which made me really uncomfortable and feel even worse about my postpartum appearance but apparently it was the ladies way of trying to give me a confidence boost Hmm or they didn't have anything for me as my boobs have a bit of sag since having DCs and nothing supported me nicely it all had an obvious gap between the cup and the breast.

It's even crappier now that I need some nude and plain everyday bras and can't get measured.
AIBU to think there's nothing out there?
Or is there a reliable brand I could turn to?

Once you know what fits, Brastop online is really good. I check pretty regularly what they’ve got in my size and brand and bought lots cheap. They’re also good for quick refunds of anything that doesn’t fit.

Sports bras! Cheaper, more supportive and so comfy.

I felt the exact same way u til recently I decided to get myself measured. I went to victoria secret as m and s weren't measuring and they made me feel so comfortable turns out I was wearing completely wrong size and now I love my bras they fit perfectly. I would 💯 recommend Victoria secret but they did pressure me into buying two bras which cost £50 but if you feel like you can say I'll have a look around and get back to you then do - I was just too awkward

These are absolutely amazing. All the wires are totally padded out so you feel nothing. Smoth for under clothes and extremely comfortable.

I have changed my bras during lockdown. I’ve had enough of wires. So uncomfortable!
I now get the MandS wireless T-shirt style bras. They’ve got plenty of elastic and supportive fabric to hold me up. They are very comfortable. No good under a skimpy top though as the straps are wide.

I tried boob or bust, so went with the size suggested and ordered loads of bras, none fitted. So gave up on that and ignored the suggested size. Ordered loads more until I found the right size.

Then discovered that all underwired bras are torture, even when they fit properly. For some reason they slide down my rib cage. No-one seems to make non- elasticated straps.

Heavy and low is a problem. No wiring makes them look weird and unsupported, and the foam padded bras are horrible.

I am still wearing my very old M&S ones and have pulled the underwiring so that it makes the cups bigger. Not great but otherwise I only have one new one that I can wear.

Another vote for good quality sports bras. I find panache the best

Bravissimo were really patient with me - I have some sensory issues, and think I must have tried on half the bras in the shop, but they finally found one that didn't make me itch or twitch. And wrote down the details for me Grin

Rigby and Peller really are the only ones that fit and are comfortable. They are pricey, but cost per wear is excellent. They measure by just looking at you and are accurate.

I tried the Boob or Bust calculator and it gave me a size that wouldn’t be stocked anywhere. I need to get back to Rigby and Peller. I’ll pay lots for a couple of decent bras if they last for ages, but more importantly, fit properly.

As a teenager, I saved up for a trip to Rigby and Peller, expecting to told that they would need to custom make a bra for me.

I was wearing a 'puffer' style coat, no measuring tapes in sight. The first bra the fitter gave me to try on was perfect.

Reader, I may have had a little weep.

You can look on their website to get an idea of what they cost for bras. It's really not that different to other retailers. Totally worth the trouble to visit And expect to have to go back if you gain or loose a lot of weight.

Good luck.

One important difference is that they do all the adjustments on the shoulder straps and explain how the hooks work.

@TDMN

Oh but also figure out what type of breasts you have and go for bras accordingly! Theres an illustration at the link here that shows you what i mean: www.midlifechic.com/how-to-find-the-right-bra-for-your-breast-shape/ I pay a lot more attention to bras im picking up now.
I fell down a rabbit hole with this blogger! Grin
