You accuse DP of having an affair because there’s a She pee in your car and you hate camping. DP calmly told me it’s a petrol filter and made me a cuppa.

Tell me why you need more sleep...

I did so much stupid stuff when very, very sleep deprived with baby DS2!

  • Accidentally shoplifted a trolley full of food from Sainsbury's. Was very lucky that staff didn't notice and have me arrested, then laughed, thanked me for being honest and let me pay for it when I realised upon reaching my car.
  • Fell asleep standing up, whilst leaning against the school office window waiting to speak to the receptionist.
  • Realised at about 3pm that I'd had my trousers on inside out at work all day. And no one told me!
  • Put things away absent mindedly in bizarre places, eg. hairbrush in fridge, TV remote in top of kitchen cupboard, vital paperwork in a large book on a shelf so it took months to find...
  • I called everyone by at least one wrong name before I got the right one
  • Repeatedly tried to open the front door with my car keyfob and my work passcard.
  • Opened tins and bottles then poured the contents into the sink.
  • Drove to my parents old house, on autopilot. They'd lived 20 miles away for about 15 years!

I was a danger to myself and everyone around me, frankly. I had to stop driving as I was in no fit state, which just made me even more tired from all the walking! I feel that the date DS2 finally slept through the night should be a national holiday Grin

Oh, I forgot I left my keys in the front door repeatedly too. The lad next door used to retrieve them and stuck a post it with "KEYS - - - - >" to the door to let me know they were next door Blush

Tired is.... driving home from Sainsbury’s then realising you’ve parked outside your old house that you moved from 9 months ago!

Oh, God, this has just reminded me. DS was only a few months old and I was out of my mind with sleeplessness, but had to go to a work thing at the British Library, which kept me completely absorbed for the whole day. When I was finished, I left the BL, walked down into the tube at Kings X, got on the Piccadilly Line north, and it was only when I was actually walking up the steps at Seven Sisters that I remembered that we had actually left London nearly seven months earlier.

Oh I call my baby by my cats name and vice versa all the time. The worst one was today I called my daughter by my husbands name. Luckily she didn't hear!

When I first passed my driving test I took the kids to school. Walked home only, when trying to open the front door with my car keys, did I realise I’d taken them in the car!
My ex bil drove all the way from Brixton to Catford with a cup and saucer in the roof of his car, it didn’t smash until he turned the last corner into the road.
Put my glasses in the dishwasher.
Very often point car keys at the front door wondering why it won’t lock.

You know it's already still dark in the morning.
Most people (ie those who don't wake up until 8am) don't know it's dark in the morning until about October.
I like June and July, they're the only months I don't see the sunrise.

Skysblue · 25/08/2020 23:13

...fall asleep while talking to someone and your mouth says a few weird things as you nod off

When sleep deprived after having dd...put the milk away after making a cuppa in the...

Tumble dryer!

Which wasn’t even in the same room!!

Luckily realised before I used the dryer but sadly not before the milk had turned!

Also almost reached the stage of reporting car stolen once I’m sure you can guess...yep was looking in the wrong level of multi storey car park!!

Re beans I almost started my own thread “quirky things you do that seem daft but make life easier” with the fact that I always start a meal that contains beans by taking the tin out the cupboard and turning it upside down while I prep the rest then when I’m ready turn right side up and open (I’m disabled and have a thingy to make opening ring pull tins easier).

I have no idea what my landline number is without checking on my phone memo for it (never use it) and my mobile number is “new” to me even though I’ve had it almost a year but I’d had the previous number almost 9 years and it was very easy to remember/say so it’s very much stuck in my brain now! I’m trying to learn the “new” one - the part that ages me is that I can still remember all my landline numbers from when I was a teen!! (Army brat hence more than one) but that’s likely because we all still used them them and gave them out often (much to my parents chagrin!
“Who the hells that calling at this hour?” 😂)

Mogtheforgetfulmum · 25/08/2020 23:41

I gave my dh a mug of cat food and gave the cats a bowl of coffee granules! (newborn days)

bettsbattenburg · 25/08/2020 23:43

You don't get up until 9am but you have to start work at eight from next week

Tillygetsit · 25/08/2020 23:51

When you find your mobile in the fridge.

SummerBaby2020 · 25/08/2020 23:52

Took DD’s bottle out the perfect prep for her during the night feed a couple of nights ago and went to shake the bottle ( not the first time but once the full 6oz was made ) and hadn’t put the lid on it....baby milk all over the fridge, ceiling, back door, hair the lot. I just turned round looked at my masterpiece and said out loud “ fck this sht it will be here in the morning “ made another bottle and fell up the stairs and burst my lip. Defo missing sleep right now!

NymphInYellow · 25/08/2020 23:58

I went to work wearing one short boot and one long boot. Didn't notice til I walked across a wooden floor and it sounded weird, so I looked down, oops.

Lost my car when pregnant. Walked up and down the road crying for half an hour before remembering I had a courtesy car that day.

Signed something for work- spelled my surname wrong.

Same as pp, I've also text dp to tell him he'd left his phone at home 😂
