Am I too old to be recruited?

I have applied for about 60 high level PA jobs over the past few weeks.

I used to work in the City, moved to a local suburbs PA job part time after kids now looking to go back full time back to London if I need too.

I haven’t been selected for even one single interview, today I sent my cv and it got rejected straight away within an hour.

I’m in my early 40s, am I too old to be employable?

Oh my goodness do you think I meant sleazy reasons? No more about a belief older workers had less absence, were harder working, had more common sense and were generally more reliable and less jobs worth.

Not relevant to this thread I know, but it is really weird to read about no DOB, no dates of qualifications, only including relevant work over the last 5 years etc.
So different from education where DOB is required, along with absolutely every qualification and job, all precisely dated and including exolanation of any gaps. Obviously all for DBS and safeguarding checking purposes.
Such a different culture.

No way is early 40s too old to be recruited! That's bonkers. Many PAs are 15/20 years older than you.

Much more likely, unfortunately, is that you've been out of the relevant labour market for some time and your skills are perceived to be out of date (which may be unfair).

It's incredibly competitive ATM due to COVID and the City PA pool will have shrunk due to office closures etc.

Would it make more sense to pursue a FT local role for a year or two as a step back into the job market? Won't be as well paid but probably an easier target short term.
