I posted on here earlier. I took a migraine last Thursday - have had them since I was a child. Anyway I came home early and worked from my bed on Thursday. Thought I was a bit better on Friday but took a massive dizzy spell around 10am and had to come home again. Said I would work from home but started feeling extremely sick and dizzy - felt awful and was sick 3 times. No one in the house so I phoned my mum who to phone the doctor. I was crying my eyes out as I felt so ill. She said I was speaking to her but making absolutely no sense - this didn't last long but I don't remember it at all and have never had this before. I still feel a bit dizzy and sick with sore head and have more or less been in bed all weekend. Any advice please?

Maybe request a covid test?

Throckmorton · 23/08/2020 18:46

I think you need to follow your mum's advice and get medical advice - call 111 now. Best wishes

I think it’s best to get some medical advice OP, you’ll get a lot of people on here with suggestions as to what it is/isn’t but really nobody can tell you from the internet.

Advice would be to call a doctor. Do NOT take any medical advice on an anonymous online forum. Ever!

SchrodingersImmigrant · 23/08/2020 19:11

I would also question why mum m didn't call for help if I called her confused and crying and not making sense...

bakebeans · 23/08/2020 19:17

You have been able to type on mumsnet coherently and as someone who also suffers with migraines, I cannot bear to look at a computer or my phone as it makes me feel worse. I can’t even string a sentence together like you have mentioned not alone write it.
Why did u ring your mum to ring the GP? Why didn’t u do it yourself and provide symptoms. Have you take any medication?

comfyslipers · 23/08/2020 22:17

bakebeans for clarification the migraine started on Thursday but got progressively worse. I didn't phone my mum to ask for her to phone the GP - I phoned to ask if she had any painkillers but I was crying down the phone. When she came up I was being sick and was really dizzy and then she said I didn't make any sense when I was speaking - I don't remember any of this. When I came round so to speak I said no to phoning the GP because I didn't want to worry her - she only just been out after shielding and is not in the best place. I took Sumatriptan and paracetemol straight away and I have pills to stop me being sick but I prompty threw them up. I didn't call the GP myself because I didn't realise until the next day exactly what had happened - I thought she was being over-dramatic, although I did feel awful.

By the way, it took three attempts for me to type the first message with some coherence.

You need medical attention. Call 111 right now.

Absolutely this.

For future reference, this is an extremely stupid reason not to phone the GP.

Popc0rn · 24/08/2020 00:52

If you've had a migraine since Thursday then call 111, it could be meningitis or something else.

No one on here can give you medical advice, you need to go and be assessed by an actual doctor in person.

I’ve had migraines since my teenage years and I had a spell of these about 12 years ago. My vision would go and then when I tried to speak it didn’t make any sense and I was very confused. Absolutely terrifying. I would then get a terrible headache, nausea and a weird tingling in my throat. First time it happened I phoned a doctor who thought it was potentially a stroke. I was checked out and it was migraine but my symptoms were not common. It happened about 3 times after the first occasion but not since. I can still get the vision loss, etc but no confused speech. I think this probably is just migraine but you must get it checked. I hope you soon feel better Flowers

As a migraine sufferer, the incoherence doesn’t immediately concern me, but given the persistence, you need medical attention.
