14 month old sofa not fit for purpose

I've posted this here for traffic but please move it to the relevant section if need be :)

We bought a 3 seater recliner and a single chair recliner from AHF back in May last year. We noticed earlier this year that the leather was wearing thin in certain places and flaking off - we took some pictures and kept meaning to email them but for whatever reason we just didnt -in June we noticed that there was bits of white foam on the floor - we looked under the sofa and the material where the mechanism rubs against has completely rubbed away and the padding is now rubbing and falling out ! We literally sit on the sofa for 3 hours of an evening. We are having to pay £60 for them to send a technician out to see if it's a manufacturers issue - to be honest I cant see how they can even say that it isnt but I'm not sure we even want a replacement! Surely in another years time we are going to be back in the same situation?
Can we ask for a credit for the value and then get something else ??
We arent really sure what our rights are but dont want to be fobbed off by them when they come out !
Any advice massively appreciated :)

Irrespective of what they say and pretend warranty periods, you have a reasonable amount of consumer law on your side, if you can be bothered to pursue it. Eventual semi-nuclear option if you can't get to a mutually agreeable resolution is simply to lodge a small claims action against the supplier of the goods.

Ah thanks for replying ! That's good to know - I'm happy to pursue it to get the right outcome x

If the assessor agrees that the fault is inherent, you're entitled to a replacement, (proportionate) refund or repair. It is up to the retailer which they offer.

(They should also reimburse the cost of the assessment, if the fault is inherent.)

Have a read of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and contact Citizens Advice.
