Are you scared of your parents?

Lighthearted (kind of)
DH takes the piss out of me constantly as I'm always a bit scared of my parents opinion. He doesn't care in the slightest what his parents think but I still have that feeling of getting into trouble' even though I'm 42! Eg DD15 got highlights in her hair and I cringed when my mum saw it and asked 'is it bleach?'

I’m not scared of their opinion but they will tell me if they disapprove. I often think ‘What would mum say?’ when deciding whether to do something and that will dictate whether I do it or not or whether I tell them about it or not.

Not scared but definitely have the same feeling of being worried about their opinions and get severe anxiety around them. My mum is very judgemental and critical so I don’t like telling her anything. I didn’t even tell her I was pregnant until 6 months as I knew she’d tell me to abort (baby was planned)
my dad is calmer and more understanding that I can do what I please, but still likes to make his views known. It’s held me back with a lot of things I’ve wanted to do in life as I chose not to because of their opinions. I didn’t realise it wasn't common until I left home at 16. I’d never be that parent to my children it’s an awful way to live.

They aren’t with us anymore but I don’t remember being scared of my parents during my adulthood. I cared about what they thought and wanted them to approve of my choices etc but that is a different dynamic altogether.

I still find myself thinking, what would mum/dad say or do in this situation and imagining their response!
