To have forgotten who I insured my car with?

Whenever I renew my car insurance I usually print out a copy of the documents and keep them in my glove compartment. This year when I renewed (January) I forgot to do this. Earlier today I had to give details of my car insurer when filling out some paperwork and I couldn't remember who I'd insured with. Literally drew a complete blank. I usually change provider each year or so as I use a comparison site to get the best deal. Last year it was Aviva but I changed this year and couldn't recall who I switched to. I eventually found it after trawling through my e-mails for a while.

Mentioned this to a friend and she said she found it "absolutely unbelievable" that I couldn't remember such an important piece of information and asked if I was stressed or taking medication/drugs as this kind of forgetfulness is very worryingConfused.

Am I alone in thinking this is a slight over-reaction. It's not as if I forgot the names of my DC or my birthday?!

I change every year and have no idea! Id have to check my bank statement or do an email search to find out

I did find the details via an e-mail search in the end but it took ages because the e-mail account I used is one that gets loads of crappy spam e-mails. I use it whenever I buy something online, have to fill out forms online etc and I currently have over 1,000 unread e-mails in there Shock

I didn't think to check my credit card!

I know my Gas and Electricity supplier because both are with the same provider and I've been with them for a few years now. However at this precise moment in time I'm not 100% sure who our house insurance is with, I think it's Aviva...

I also realised last week that I have both RAC membership and breakdown cover via one of my bank accounts. However I have never heard of the breakdown company the bank uses so wary of giving up RAC (who are not great but at least a known and reputable company) for this unknown outfit.

I'm honestly in awe of people who can lay their hand on any piece of household admin at any given moment. I just can't keep up with it all.
