To want an easy way to sell inherited property

One of my parents died earlier in the year and we're trying to sell the house now. Last week we had a cash offer before it went on the market, it's a good offer so we accepted it but now SIL is kicking off because the house didn't go on the market. It looks like it'll fall through before it's even started. 3 agents have agreed the price we've been offered but SIL has found an agent who says we can get £20k more. I just want to take the cash and run. The house needs loads of work and I can't take the hassle.

If I sell to my brother instead he can do what he (or SIL) likes. Has anyone done this? Is it easy to do.

AIBU to not trust the high valuation or my SIL?

Thanks for your messages! My brother has seen the light (and work involved) and decided better having me on board doing all the work for the private sale instead of him and his partner messing it up! Hurrah. Got the forms to the solicitor quickly this pm. Don't know what SIL deal is, they're not married but I see them as married because they've been together so long but can't believe how little she cares about my dad's wishes (quick and easy!) or obviously doesn't trust me. The cash offer is very solid. We're lucky that it's a close knit area so not a surprise to get a cash offer, people know my dad passed away and respectfully approached us. Fingers crossed this has been the worst bit.

It's got nothing to do with your sister-in-law. It is down to the executor to make decisions. If you have a cash offer with no agents' fees, you'd be mad to turn it down.

And if they're not married, it has even less to with her!

When we sold our last house we got three estate agents out. Two valued it the same and the third Valued it 10k over. We went with the third. We had 1 viewing in 6 months! They were constantly trying to get us to lower it. In the end we took it off with them and went with one of the others and sold within 2 months.
I’m pleased your brother has agreed on the cash off. Sorry for your loss 💐

I had same as a pp... Got house valued.just a small terrace...2 valued it at £70,000, 3rd valued it at £80,000.
When asked about fees the first 2 were fees on sale. The 3rd you had to pay £100 to list then so much if you took it off market.... Walked past their shop and half of the houses had "new lower price" stickers on. We figured that they gave the higher valuation to get you hooked in, then we'd get no viewings so lower price to what the others valued it as.

Glad you brother has seen sense.
