Jaw pain relief

I woke up this morning with jaw pain, it has gotten so bad I am struggling to open my mouth. I don't seem to have any other symptoms and normally have no dental issues. Any idea to help relieve it?(painkillers don't seem to be working)

What sort of pain is it, OP? Throbbing/dull ache or sharp, shock type pains? Are pain killers helping at all?

I have trigeminal neuralgia and it came on suddenly one morning. No dental issues or previous problems. I was diagnosed initially at an emergency dental appointment (after dental issues were ruled out) then had the diagnosis confirmed by a neurologist.

It's characterised by severe sharp, electric shock type pains which are not alleviated by pain killers.

If I were you I'd make an emergency dental appointment and take it from there.

How are you doing? If it is possibly GCA, you need to take urgent action - they give you immediate high dose of steroids to protect your sight, and then take it from there with tests to confirm.
