To hate social media 'influencers'

Not sure the point of this post really, other than to express my dislike of social media 'influencers'. Am I the only one (and a miserable old fart at the age of 34) or do others not understand their purpose either?

Someone asked me the other day a question along the lines of, what would make me feel like I'd failed as a parent? My answer was 'if my future child decreed that they want to be an 'influencer' when they grow up.

I use insta (yes, I see the irony - but it's limited to bath time), but what I can't stand is seeing so many teenagers either doing irritating dance routines, plugging themselves or products and just generally living life with the sole aim of gaining as many likes and followed as possible. I just don't understand! Kind of makes me feel sad.

I am aware that plenty will say they're doing no harm, but this is just another reason why I get worried the way our future is heading!

That's interesting. But for me I'm more likely to browse around the site plus the cookies are there for a while.

I quite like it but I also like watching the blatant begging,can anyone recommend me a pram/baby gate/whatever,that’s what google is bloody for.

Too many show their children without thinking of their privacy,talking about their daughters periods,relationships.Taking pictures of their children asleep,or in school uniforms.Their children are potentially at risk yet as long as they get the views it’s ok.

Also the ones advertising iconic makeup,Jesus some of them shouldn’t even be approached as they can’t put it on.

Not declaring gifted or ad annoys me.

I’ve read tattle (an influencer posted about it and I had a nosey) it is interesting that they call out the fakes/liars/scammers.

Instagram can be fun but I do feel sorry for the people who are taken in by these people thinking that they do it for fun,when it reality it’s for the money and exposure.
