I have a 15 month old LG. We seem to be in a routine at the moment of having one night where she sleeps from 7.30- 1.30 and then wakes up every 2 hours until morning; then the next night she wakes hourly from 10.30?
She is breastfed for night weaned. We offer water in the night. She has dinner th4 same time every night, naps are at 9.30 and 2.30 and bedtime starts at 7 with her falling asleep around 7.30?

She normally wakes up for the day at 6.30

Probably to do with sleep cycles. Is she possibly not tired enough at night? I think the majority of toddlers her age would be transitioning to one nap rather than two.

DS started to transition to one nap at that age, not something I encouraged because our was the start of lockdown and we were both working with no childcare, but if he still had two naps he'd sleep badly at night

KarlKennedysDurianFruit · 17/08/2020 06:57

He now goes to bed around eight and is still asleep now

Nap at 230 is too late, sounds like she’s overtired at bedtime hence the constant waking overnight.

Try transitioning to 1 nap from 12:30-2:30 and bed for 7ish.

I'd cut out the 9.30 nap and move the second nap to directly after lunch.
Also, it's really normal to wake up several times a night, everybody, young and old does it as you come in and out of sleep cycles - most people learn how to self settle themselves, they wake briefly then roll over and drop back off. But if you have a baby or young child who has cues associated with falling off to sleep such as being rocked or patted or fed they might struggle to fall back to sleep without those cues and wake up properly, crying.

Agree with pp, too much day sleep. One nap around midday will sort this issue for you

Pondlife87 · 17/08/2020 11:00

Thanks for all your advice. I will try transitioning her to one nap.
I guess what i don't understand is why that despite having the same schedule she sometimes sleeps large chunks and sometimes wakes hourly? That was my main point for the post and nobody seems to have addressed that so far? Does anyone have any ideas? X

Could be any number or things or could be just because they are a toddler 🤷🏼‍♀️

Development leaps and learning new skills
Too Cold
Too Hot
Under tired
Over tired
Hungry
Needs a poo/ wee
Can’t self settle properly

Not sure you’ll get a 1 size fits all answer but sorting naps out and getting a good 2 hours around lunchtime should help getting sleep more regulated. Sleep helps promote sleep
