Business Bombshells Uk

...the latest MLM to hit the UK and exploit newly unemployed women and other victims of the post-covid recession, launches in September. My Facebook feed is awash with posts about it. There is no focus on the actual products (that part is rather mysterious, it seems to be beauty products); rather, it's all about 'opportunities', 'babes', 'empowering women', 'sisterhood', emojis, and a fuck load of pink. It's all about to change, apparently.

It makes me so angry that these businesses are allowed to run! How is it ok?

I dont think michelle towle is the same company.

I suspect it is. Michelle Towle is also involved with juice plus and the spiel for her bomshells seems very similar to the Aussie one. The business model seems the same.

I think BB is just another marketing strand for Juice Plus, presumably because the brand recognition of JP isn't actually helpful.

UK stuff:

Aussie stuff:

businessbombshells.shop/

There is another of them here which explicitly links the two:

Run by a woman called Michelle Towle / Michelle Pocock. Look on Companies House at the accounts. Hilarious.

I don't think she spunked £40k on this crap (which is what I presume you mean). DP/DH and her recently bought a house for £550k so I suspect the money went to that.

Whatever the truth, I've done enough gawking at loons for one night. I'm going to go cheer myself up by watching Requiem for a Dream then reading a bit of Sylvia Plath.

GoldenKelpie · 21/08/2020 07:06

M1LL13 quoted "Minimal info on what they actually sell, but apparently the products are AMAZING...she just hasn't tried them yet. Someone asked how much some face mask was and she explained that you can't buy it yet...and you'll be able to buy it in the 'beauty bundle'. I read elsewhere on the internet in the rabbit warren that it is that this beauty box is something like £125".

That 'someone' would have been another hun plant, pretending to be an eeking member of the public Grin. They think we're stupid. Who on Gid's green earth is going to pay £125 for a box of gloop with an added facemask (unless it is perhaps a designer brand).

GoldenKelpie · 21/08/2020 07:16

@Tittie

I've recently been made redundant while on mat leave, ripe for exploitation from one of these companies. So it's just a matter of time before one of them approaches me with this amazing opportunity that'll change my life Grin

One lady (she's on her fourth MLM now; not getting the message that few can make it) posted to ask her followers about their beauty regimes, probably so she can push products on them at a later date. Hilariously, the only people to comment were women involved in different MLMs:

'I use Arbonne, hun, would you like a consultation?'
'Only Body Shop for me, did you know I sell these from home?'
'Tropic all the way, I can PM more info about these fab products...'
'Did you know Herbalife do skincare?'

You've got to give it to them, BB seem quite good at marketing. They're doing a good job of making the business look 'disruptive', and like this MLM isn't the same as the others...so I can see how lots are falling for it, even if they've been stung by Juice Plus etc in the past.

That's funny, Tittie. My skincare routine is just 'water' Grin.

The big problem with the MLM business model is that bots (or huns) are forced to "pay to play" every month if they don't make enough sales to cover the minimum order they have to make in order to qualify to receive bonuses. They also have other fixed costs.

No wonder they flood social media with silly and desperate memes and lies in order to recruit a downline, it is the only way to make income and that downline has to do the same, as does that one. Then suddenly the pyramid is created.

Tittie · 21/08/2020 16:40

You're right @GoldenKelpie , the comments on posts are coming from people who sound like curious potential customers, except they've made the mistake of using the BB frame on their Facebook profile pics, so you can immediately see that they're already involved 😆

Sophie Hughes simultaneously claims to have been a professional model for years and to have fallen into modelling very recently, following some pics she posted on Insta of her scarred stomach. Hmmmm.

Sigh, they are forgetting their lies and it's no wonder, there are do many of 'em. Judge Judy states " if you tell the truth you don't have to have a good memory".

I find this Business Bombshell stuff really worrying. I have 2 people on FB just starting this. Both are single parents and both have medical conditions that preclude them from working and see this as an amazing opportunity. Both are still doing Body Shop. Do I warn them? If so, how is that conversation worded as they see it as a life changing opportunity?

M1LL13 · 05/09/2020 10:55

Reading that - I could have written it! I also know 2 women, with medical conditions who also do Body Shop (one of them also has a child). They have both gotten involved. The one with the child is very involved and reeeeeeeally pushing it all. Still minimal info on what actually happens or cost. Just that everything is god damn pink. ‘The pink face mask’. I wonder how long it took to come up with that catchy title.

Honestly, I think there's nothing you can do. I've noticed the people involved are referencing the 'negativity' that's been thrown at them over their new business, which I interpret as well-meaning friends and family raising their concerns. Many of them have experience of failure with other MLMs and that in itself isn't enough to put them off, so what will be? Sad best to just be there for them when it goes wrong I guess.

Tittie · 05/09/2020 12:15

Also, knowing a little about this topic, I can confirm that the ingredients they've listed on the website are nothing special to justify the £125 (!) bundle. The packaging looks like the bog standard, off the shelf stuff, and there's been no effort to colour match on labels etc or at least pretend this is a luxury range. It's clearly been thrown together with minimal effort, and I wouldn't be surprised if the formulations themselves are also off the shelf crap. It's low cost, high margin stuff.
I have way too much time on my hands but I did a comparative shop with Neal's Yard and you could get similar products for less than £125 in total. And Neal's Yard at least have a semblance of commitment to things like sustainability, ethical sourcing, etc. I know which products I'd rather use!

OP posts:
GrimDamnFanjo · 06/09/2020 00:15

I think Neals Yard also have a mlm wing...?

OldQueen1969 · 06/09/2020 00:50

Yes, Neal's yard does have an MLM branch, which I stupidly got into when I got my B+M shop..... someone I know doing it kind of pitched it slightly as though it was a wholesale effort (and I usually avoid MLMs like the plague and hate the concept.) I stupidly thought the nice natural products would be a good seller as no-one else did it and apparently lots of beauty therapists etc sell them in their clinics.....

Wellm no, the products didn't sell, not even off my shelves. And the whole process of ordering, getting discounts - sheesh, I think working at HMRC might be simpler. Plus the sudden being added to about a gazillion FB coaching and support groups. My idiocy lasted less than three months then I finally gifted the whole lot to one of my Housemates Mum who was having difficulty getting the products but couldn't order enough at one time to do it regularly through me.

Such a faff and ever so slightly inaccurately marketed to boot......

Tittie · 06/09/2020 06:44

Well that's me told 😂 I can't believe it! It seems such an odd decision to me, for businesses like Neal's Yard and Body Shop to branch out into MLMs like that.

OP posts:
SofaSurfette · 06/09/2020 06:58

I've not heard of that one yet. I've seen a big increase in people joining other MLMs since lockdown though. I've even had two people add me on Facebook, who I've not seen since school 15 years ago, only to instantly add me to their groups! It's so cringey. Don't they know how MLMs are generally viewed?! And who actually buys their tat?! It is a shame though that some people are obviously getting a bit desperate having lost jobs etc.

MsSponlie · 11/09/2020 12:08

Hi, I was researching this company last night for a video. I found this thread. Well, I've made the video about this Business Bombshells, here is:

MLMsuperfan · 11/09/2020 17:36

Love the Turbo reference.

Towle · 06/10/2020 18:59

Hiya,

As I seem to be the topic of conversation I thought I would answer the points raised.
My name is Michelle Towle - I have a juiceplus franchise and it’s registered at companies house as “Business Bombshells”.

I have absolutely no affiliation with the new skincare company with trade as the “The business bombshells” they are run by a lady called Sophie.

I have run my Juiceplus franchise for 6 years now and I started this business when my husband lost his job. This paid for food, nappies and general living whilst we were on my arse struggling.

With reference to people having to buy products each month to keep their business going, this is not the case with this. If you sell you earn, if you don’t sell then you don’t earn and you don’t have to pay any money into your business each month.

I’m now fortunate enough to have grown my business to a point where I could quit my job and concentrate on this full time. Yes it’s a different way of making money, and I’m sure there are “Traditional” companies that are out there that you also don’t like - that’s choice and preference. We are all entitled to that.

Whilst I appreciate this type of business is not for everyone, nor are other careers that I see others doing.

If anyone has any additional questions please feel free to look me up on Instagram - MichelleJoanneTowle.

I hope that clears a few things up for you all, and to the person that took the time to research me on companies house, surely you have more constructive things to do.

Michelle

She's trade marked the name Business Bombshells.
Towle · 06/10/2020 22:07

Yes I have recently found this out. I have the company name but she trade marked the trading name.
There is nothing I can do about that and as you can imagine it’s played havoc with my business.

Just reading this thread is a prime example.

Towle · 06/10/2020 22:56

I’m not sure what’s “Hilarious” about my accounts. I run a profitable business which pays for me and my family to live. What your post did not say was that I have turned a “Profit” every single year, the company had no debt and it continues to progress. I would say that’s “Success”. If your going to give an opinion at least make it balanced.

Running any type of business is hard work, takes resilience and dedication. Trying to belittle me for achieving says far more about you than it ever would me.

MsSponlie · 07/10/2020 12:36

She might not need the name for much longer. Share this with your network, because as far as I'm concerned her company is highly unethical and have made numerous false claims.

That’s what I’m hoping for. I have my views on it but I will reserve judgement on it.

Towle · 07/10/2020 13:42

It would be appreciated if you could confirm on a YouTube video that the business bombshells which are owned by Sophie Hughes that sell skincare products are in fact a completely different company which I run by Michelle Towle(Me).

I don’t want to be associated with the skincare products at all.

Thanks
Michelle
