Not losing much - just basic camping in Yorkshire Dales.
Been keeping an eye on the forecast past few days and it would have only been 2 nights!

But we've wimped out. Or been sensible given that camping in the rain, let alone thunderstorms is just a crap way of spending a few days?

I do like camping, But I will admit to being a fair weather camper, and I don't want to put DS off. He is used to camping in France in summer.

We've booked the Lakes for a few weeks time,

Would you camp if you knew it was thunderstorms forecast?

Good decision, put the tent up in the back garden & make s'mores on the fire pit if you have one.

We were supposed to go camping this weekend. The campsite were very good and held our booking til the weather’s better.

We did it in Wales beginning of this month. We had 40mph winds and rain. Tent leaked and guy ropes came out several times. After that, 2 more days of rain. Oh what fun we had, not! But it wasnt all bad and its a story to tell. Camping in England is always a gamble.

I’d be ok as long as the weekend wasn’t a total wash out. Night storms are ok if the tent is up to it.

We were meant to have rain all day with thunder this weekend. It only rained a bit in the evening. I’m not sure I trust the forecasts totally anymore.

You'd just end up really ill with pneumonia or something from the damp

chomalungma · 17/08/2020 11:53

Cancelled it last night.
But forecast keeps changing.
No lightning forecast now !

So may go away towards the end of the week.

Why would you think it's unreasonable? It's entirely to you Confused

SomewhereEast · 17/08/2020 12:30

Its really hard to know. I live the other side of Yorkshire & none of our thunderstorm forecasts over the past few days have come to much / anything.

I've seen some impressive flooded tent pics this morning from UK friends.
