To be heartily fed up of country parks?

I'm aware this is one of those really middle class problems...
But am I the only one? It seems like all weve been doing for the past however long it's been. We are so lucky having so many wonderful green spaces but they are all starting to merge into one giant blur of Joules raincoats and cockapoos bounding hither and thither.

Ha ha. I know what you mean OP!

dingledongle · 16/08/2020 21:26

We are a bit bored of castles and take away costa- first world problems! Sad

OursonGuimauve · 16/08/2020 21:27

Not so much country parks but forests. Fucking forests. I feel like I've spent the last 6 months either in work or giving the local conifers, increasingly baleful, side eye. Fucking pine cones and trying to make sweating up trippy-bastard-root-hills seem fun.

Janaih · 16/08/2020 21:28

My local castle is always booked up Grin

You should have added more class signifiers in case we didn't get the message the first time Hmm

You know I think the OP was being self-deprecating. Smile

We have the same problem with. National Trust properties. Walled garden, old houses with oil paintings and whatnot, rolling landscapes, a tea shop. We went to one recently I thought it was the first time DH swore blind it wasn’t. They all blur into one.

SwedishK · 16/08/2020 21:50

I know what you mean!

This summer I think the highlight was going to IKEA. Went on a Tuesday mid-morning, practically had the place to ourselves.

SwedishK · 16/08/2020 21:51

Also, it was a sunny day. I think that helped too.

Yeah, agreed. I've been to the same 3 since bookings opened and I can't single out one particular visit in my memory. They fill in a bit of time but the cafés only opened at the start of August, and the coffee and cake was half the fun!
Branches1 · 16/08/2020 21:55

SAME. Definitely agree with OP Smile

nancybotwinbloom · 16/08/2020 21:57

This is a piss take isn't it?

Disclaimer - I have had one FULL bottle of wine over three hours. And I feel amazk g Grin

Ffs. Amazing.

ILoveAnOwl · 16/08/2020 21:58

We snuck into a NT place today to have an ice cream and use the loo without booking. The level of danger and suspense did make it rather more exciting! (It was not a planned break in... We were on a walk and ended up there. We're not just wanton criminals!)

Toddlerteaplease · 16/08/2020 21:59

Yes. I wish the bloody NT would reopen their houses!

Janaih · 16/08/2020 22:07

@ILoveAnOwl brilliant! I hope that has given you a taste for further NT break ins. I need more!

Fed up of the local country estate. You can do various walks but they get a bit tedious and all with similar views. Did a walk today which we hadn't done for ages but involved the same view.

Roll in next month when dogs can go back on the beaches for a bit of variety

How fabulous!! I have put this on the top of my list of ‘things to do’.
Serin · 16/08/2020 22:28

I understand OP. I have completed a whole NT passport. I never want to see another one.
I love nature, (even my nickname is in honour of the birds) but God even I'm getting sick of going for walks.
I just want to go to London, with friends, shopping and maybe a show.

Porcupineinwaiting · 16/08/2020 22:34

Well London is still there Serin. My niece went shopping on Oxford Street last week. She said it was virtually empty and everything was half price.

ColourMeExhausted · 16/08/2020 22:34

I am woodland-ed out!! If I have to fake joy at the sight of yet another bloody squirrel I think I'll end up shooting the fecker. Great thread OP!

Charles11 · 16/08/2020 22:38

I’d love to just go out on the train with a friend, go shopping, have a nice lunch.
But I do feel lucky about all our woodland and nature walks when I chat to my friend in Texas where it’s 41c and they can’t go anywhere because of the heat.

crazycrofter · 16/08/2020 22:38

What do you people usually do that’s so exciting?! This is obviously the benefit of being strapped for cash and easily pleased in normal times - since we’ve been able to see people my life has felt pretty normal!

Rinsefirst · 16/08/2020 22:49

On a Northumberland Beach this week I sae four adults repeatedly sliding down a sand dune without a child in sight although one did have a Jack Russell...
