Could anyone who has had it or know anyone who has had it tell me their hopefully reassuring experiences please?

I’m so worried, especially as my elderly parents visited us today (before the cough started later)

There’s a series of threads called ‘My lungs’which are long running experiences of Covid

GlitteriestFluff · 15/08/2020 22:31

Or you know what's really reassuring? Getting a test. In spite of then false positives, it will likely find him to be fine.

DH had a mild temperature for 3 days, and a dry cough. The cough lasted ages, then he had the ‘covid toe’. I had similar, but a sore throat and some nasal congestion before the cough started. DS had a cough and temperature for a week, and DD just had a cough for a week.

A friend had a test done and results back in 12 hours, at one of the drive in places.

I had it, I had a positive test. It wasn't horrendous. I had a temperrature for 8 days, was tired and a bit achy all over - but that was kinda it. It took about 2 months to get over the tiredness and fatigue and had a bit of anxiety etc for a few months also. However, now approx 4 months since I had it and I have no real issues. Noone else in my household got it, and we didn't isolate from each other during it!

I came down with a cough but tested negative 🤷‍♀️

ittakes2 · 15/08/2020 22:47

Please don’t panic. I have several times developed a dry cough - each time have tested negative to covid. It’s super easy to book a test - go online with Nhs 111. You usually get the results back in about 12 hours. I think my coughs have been related to pollen creating nasal drips.

What is “covid toe”? I’ve read a lot about Covid but haven’t heard of this
DustbinTimberlake · 15/08/2020 23:00

It’s a swollen, red toe that’s been associated with having had coronavirus. DH mentioned his toe being sore and itchy and it sort of looked like it had chilblains on (this was about 5 weeks after he had covid) but he’d never had chilblains before, so he just thought it was one of those random things. Then the very next day I saw one of those Have You Got This Strange New Covid Symptom articles about people who’d noticed swollen toes (and maybe fingers) and the pictures matched DH’s toe!

Try and book a test asap (for both you and him) if either of you ate positive you will need to let your parents know to isolate and get a test if they get any symptoms. My friend had it (early days so not tested) and was poorly for about 10 days but not calling an ambulance poorly. She's more or less recovered but still gets breathless and has been prescribed an inhaler since then. Really hope he's ok. Most people who get it are ok. Fingers crossed.

Partner and I had it in April. Mild cough and temperature. I've worked (remotely) through week 1, found it incredibly difficult to concentrate for about 3 days in week 2. Hardly any pain and v manageable cough, just had some scary experiences thinking I could do certain tasks and feeling faint throughout.
Took a while to recover, still sometines have a faint tickle in my throat. Weird symptoms: getting pins and needles very easily.
Things that helped me:
-take vitamin D supplement (available on Amazon Prime). Vit D is great for your immune system system and prevents fluid build up in the lungs and stops the immune system from 'over-reacting' and attacking body cells.
-eat regularly, even if you don't feel like it. Food rich in protein and healthy fats felt particularly good (nuts, olives, fatty fish).
-drink plenty of water
-take things very slowly. Rest as much as you can, even if you feel okay.
-deep breath. If it is Covid19, you have a 98% chance of survival.

I know plenty of people who had Covid, and we all made it through ok.

Is cv19 at large within your community (unlikely) or does he work somewhere with no social distancing?

What symptoms does he have?
Why do you think that he has it?

My 19 year old ds caught it a week before lockdown, he was in bed for 13 days and took another 3 weeks to feel completely normal. He was the sickest i have seen him since he had KD as a toddler but he didn't need any medical help.
There was three others in the house and nobody caught it, although i do wonder if i did as i had sore throat, headache, strange taste in mouth, bit of an upset stomach five days after he became sick.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 15/08/2020 23:28

We are a family of 4 (parents and 2 late teens) living closely together in a smallish house since the start of lockdown. DH and DS had full-on coronavirus and were both as ill as I've ever seen them. DD and I didn't develop any noticeable symptoms.

fortunacookie · 16/08/2020 00:28

Think I had it match symptoms were:

Sore throat
Tickly cough
Fever just one night
Lethargy
Lost sense of smell
Itchy eyes

The sore throat was so bad it hurt to speak n lasted for the full 2 weeks I had it
